Get ready to register for classes. |
|
Maybe you're anxious about next week, or you just want to do a quick check to make sure everything is set for registration. Either way, here's a quick list of to-dos to ensure you're ready to register the week of August 5: ❏ Make sure you've marked your registration date on your calendar—and set your alarm! Fall 2024 course registration opens on the following dates at 9 a.m. (EDT): - Incoming transfer and exchange students: Tuesday, August 6
- Incoming first-year students: Wednesday, August 7
❏ Check your account holds. Make sure your advisor has signed off on your schedule and lifted the advising hold from your UR Student account. Your registration hold (labeled as Unable to Register Now) will be lifted right before 9 a.m. (EDT) on your registration date. If you have not yet heard from your advisor(s) or are having trouble getting in touch with them, please contact the College Center for Advising Services at cascas@ur.rochester.edu. ❏ Save yourself time on registration day. Certain classes will fill up fast when registration opens! Reduce your stress by creating a saved schedule that allows you to register for multiple courses at once. Additional versions of your saved schedules with different course sections can give you options if you don't get into your preferred section of each course. |

Review these registration tips and resources. |

Make sure to review this page on the New Student Academic Guide website and bookmark it to have open when registration begins. It details tips for registering for courses with multiple components and finding back-ups in case the class you want is full, as well as campus contacts for day-of troubleshooting. |

Prepare for the first day of classes. |
|
You'll be busy making new friends and getting to know campus during Welcome Week, so if there are any additional academic tasks you need to complete before the first day of classes, we recommend taking care of it now. This can include requesting academic disability accommodations if you need them or familiarizing yourself with the academic support resources on campus. The one task we do recommend waiting to complete until after the first day of classes is purchasing or renting your textbooks. Instructors can give you the most accurate information on required vs. recommended texts and where to obtain them, so it's usually most helpful to wait until after your first class to start shopping. However, if you want to shop right after you complete course registration next week, you can get started on the University of Rochester bookstore website. |
|
Seriously, have you registered yet? |
|
If you have not yet completed your Welcome Week registration form, you need to do so by this coming Monday, August 5!This form is required for all incoming students, including transfer, exchange, and commuter students. If you need to make changes to your form after submitting it, please send us an email at orientation@rochester.edu. |

There's still time to apply! |
