Words from Trey
A She Dat Theatre is my love letter to women who’ve carried entire worlds on their backs and still manage to stand tall. It’s a home for the stories we whisper to each other in kitchens, salons, late-night phone calls, and quiet moments when the world isn’t watching. Stories of becoming. Of breaking open. Of healing. Of starting over at an age when society tells us to sit down and shrink.

This theatre is a sacred space where women’s truths are honored…. especially Black women’s truths, in all their humor, heartbreak, softness, rage, grit, and triumph. Here, storytelling is not just art. It’s medicine. It’s community. It’s legacy. It’s a chance to see ourselves reflected with dignity, complexity, and joy.

Trey Anthony Founder & Creator
Trey Anthony is an award-winning playwright, actor, and producer with a whole lot of receipts. She made history as the first Black woman in Canada to create and star in her own television series with the hit show ‘da Kink in My Hair, and later helped shape the industry as a development executive for CTV.

A bestselling author of Black Girl in Love (With Herself) and a magnetic speaker, Trey is known for mixing humor, heart, and straight-up truth. Her work celebrates Black women’s joy, sensuality, healing, and the fine art of reinventing yourself—especially after 40.

She is the founder of A She Dat Theatre, an intimate, grown-and-sexy experience in Atlanta built for women who love good stories, good vibes, and a space where we can show up soft, bold, and fully ourselves. Through her company, Big Tings Inc., Trey creates transformative shows and creative platforms that invite women to laugh loud, heal deep, and live with audacity and faith.

From the stage to the screen to the page, Trey’s mission is to tell the stories that touch souls, spark laughter, and remind every woman: it’s never too late to glow up

Kathleen Johnson Creative & Managing Partner
Kathleen Johnson is a healer with a heartbeat for storytelling, a science-minded soul with a flair for sisterhood, and the proud mama of *three sons—two of whom are in the arts—*who keep her life colorful, creative, and slightly unpredictable (just the way she likes it).

As Co-Founder of A She Dat Theatre, Kathleen stands at the intersection of mental wellness and creative liberation—where therapy meets theatre and healing takes the stage. She doesn’t make art; she champions it. She believes that when women gather to share their stories, laughter becomes medicine, and community becomes cure.

By trade, Kathleen is a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner specializing in integrative psychiatry and addiction recovery. She’s known for creating judgment-free spaces where people can breathe again, explore the root of their pain, and understand the science behind their healing. Her approach blends mind, body, and spirit—because she knows true wellness isn’t clinical, it’s human.

An adoptee, ancestry detective, and unshakable believer in purpose, Kathleen has turned her own journey into a roadmap for others. She lives her life by the belief that every woman deserves to take up space, every story deserves to be told, and every heart deserves to heal.
At A She Dat Theatre, Kathleen helps build that space—one chair, one sister, one story at a time.

A SHE DAT THEATRE MANIFESTO
We are the women who build our own tables, then pull up chairs for our sisters.

We are the storytellers, truth-tellers, and joy-bringers.

We laugh loud, we cry hard, we pray bold, and we take up space.

At A She Dat Theatre, we center her — her story, her struggle, her shine.

We believe that every woman’s voice is sacred, that laughter is medicine, and  that healing happens when we see ourselves reflected onstage.

We create work that celebrates Black women,  complex, brilliant, messy, holy,

and human.

We make art that feels like coming home.

We build community, not competition.

We honor our mothers and make room for our daughters.

This is more than theatre.

It’s a movement.

A reminder that A she  dat — she is indeed ‘dat girl!!! She  is the woman who dares to dream,

who leads with heart,

and who refuses to shrink.

We are A She Dat Theatre.

Where women’s stories take center stage and never apologize for it!
