A couple of years ago, my dear (brilliant) friend Barbara Jones and I were talking shop and she was like, "What?! You don't have your own Christine Koh newsletter? GET ON THAT!" Knowing that Barbara is right about, well, pretty much everything, I put it on my to-do list and had the best intentions of starting it (within a week, in traditional Christine Koh get-sh*t-done fashion), but for some reason I kept putting it off with a feeling of obligatory dread. I mean, I already have e-mail lists for my blog and podcast. Did I have more to say? It just felt like another thing. And I already do too many things.
But then recently—thanks to further conversations with some smart women + changing e-mail platforms for one of my other businesses—that dread of obligation flipped to a spark of excitement. I realized I did want to carve out a space where I could communicate unconstrained; in a personal way where all the various, overlapping pieces of my identity could come together (cue above Venn diagram inspired logo...which I created in about 5 minutes using Canva #justbegin), and where I could also share about the brilliance of people I know and respect. And though I originally was all like, "I must make a very strategic, bullet-point plan about how to execute my newsletter!" that perspective was also holding me back. I realized that we rarely have moments in life where things in the obligatory column move to the excitement column. It was a sign to me to throw strategic plans to the wind and JUST BEGIN.
So here I am. Thank you for being part of this new journey.
