âSometimes the challenge chooses you.â
Mark Pollock said that during a conference I was at in Berkeley, California this week and it stuck to me. Not in an âOh, thatâs a gem!â type of way, but in the way that feels like divine intervention. In the way that feels like the answer to the prayer I've been waiting for. If you regard spirituality as having an air of purity and softness and wonder why you donât see the messages youâre asking for, then thatâs probably why. The Universe/God/Spirit/Etc. is love, but it loves us so much that it has the tendency to slap us when we need it most. How else would we align when weâre not opening our eye(s).
That was mad woke, I know. But I feel very clear these days. Do I chuck it up to the transition from Capricorn into Aquarius season? Kind of. Letâs talk about whatâs going on and how we should best navigate the cosmic energy through self-care of our mind, body, and spirit.
Letâs welcome the New Moon in Aquarius, yaâll. Itâs the humanitarian and community sign ruled by Uranus, the planet of awakening, so if youâve been thinking a lot about purpose and existence in your current lifetime, this is probably why. If youâve been feeling emotional about it all, this may also be why. 2020 came at us with no time to spare. Hella planetary alignments with hella get-yo-shit-together energy. Whether that means zooming in your mental, emotional, physical, or spiritual needs, the cosmic consensus is:
Thereâs a collective shift happening. You can see it in the good and the bad happening worldwide, so you should be able to feel it in your life as well because just being here, alive in this lifetime, contributes to the ripples of change that affect everything and anything. Tune in and see. Tune in and feel. Tune in and amend. Tune in and allow the forces of change to move you into purposeful action, no matter what the position youâve been destined to play in the here and now.
If it seems like Iâm always saying this is an important time for our spirituality, itâs because I mean it each and every time. The New Moon in Aquarius welcomes the time of "the water bearer." Although we all have a divine purpose, we always have free will. We can either drown in the waters of change or root ourselves and let the water grow our seeds of purpose. Everything about the energy around us is urging us that something greater is coming, for us, for the world, for the entire Universe. This time is ripe for making sense of the shifts that are happening whether we want them to or not.
This ainât a time to play small. You can either lounge in fear of the unpredictability of life or love the fact that itâs here to shake us into awareness, recalibration, renewal, and action. One will freeze us, making our experience that much more painful, and the other welcomes pain as a sign that weâre being called to break through. The choice is yours.
Let me say it again...this ainât a time to play small.
If youâre on it and you feel energized and expressive by the Aquarian waters of change, by all means...TALK YO SHIT. You might be fueled by Aquariusâ need to free your ideas, your advocacy, or your passion, but met with its sometimes abrupt and aggressive nature. Just make sure you check your ego and allow the greater good to be the root of your expression.
I keep talking about being ârootedâ but how can we do that, practically, in our sometimes very busy lives? Well, Aquarius being "the water bearer" is a self-care cue in itself. Think clarity and cleansing. Drink water, prepare a spiritual bath, and maybe set New Moon intentions in water. Donât have access to an ocean or a pool? Stand in the shower or lay in a specially prepared bath, close your eyes, and speak your intentions out loud with as much conviction as possible. Itâs probably my favorite way to pray, meditate, and speak to my higher self and my guides.
All in all, recognize that the crazy and sometimes terrifying and horrible things that are happening in our lives arenât calling for a fearful response, but a fearless one. Weâre in a moment of collective soul retrieval, of remembering wtf we are as the tests pile on. A moment of giving ourselves grace as we unlearn fear and relearn our true selves. Will you tune in and power through or sit out waiting for the larger lesson to appear? Iâm just the messenger, but keep aware, stay rooted, and stay grateful. Thereâs so much more where this energy is coming from.
