Hi {{ subscriber.firstName | default('love') }}

Happy Sunday and happy FULL MOON 🌝 (it's today!) :)

In hosting SO MANY moon themed events this year, I've been immersing myself in everything moon phase and I'm just loving it.  I constantly tell my students...even if you don't feel driven by the moon's pull, following these phases of the moon is such a nice & gentle way to check in with your ambitions, goals, dreams and overall well-being.

By using the cues of the moonlight (New Moon : slow things down, practice extra self care & DREAM for the things you want to shift into place | Waxing Moon : we are beginning to take action towards our dreams | Full Moon : start to feel the effects of the actions you have taken, dive full in to your dreams | Waning Moon :  tie up loose ends and find some sense of completion), we can use an attainable period of time to set new goals and stick to them.  We can tap into our self care and the needs we have as they shift throughout the cycles.  This is such a LIGHT and QUICK review of the moon phase symbolism, but it's an excellent start (I'll definitely be offering up more in-depth moon phase opportunities, both online and in-person in the soon-ish future!).

Well this week, the full moon is on my mind.  If you've been to class with me in person, we've already been practicing to it.

Traditionally, during the full moon you hear a lot about RELEASING what is no longer serving you.  Walking away or letting go of the stuff that might be holding us down from moving closer to our goals is an important part of the process.  Think about it like this....if you're scuba diving and holding a weight on your belt that keeps you directly below the surface, no matter how hard you kick or try to swim up, you might not ever reach the surface.  When you want to ascend, you drop the weight and suddenly you're not fighting it anymore, you might even just float upwards! (I'm not a diver obviously haha but this is how I picture it!)

Releasing is a powerful tool.

However, this year I've been incorporating two other strong intention words into my full moon practices.  Gratitude (anytime we can practice gratitude for where we are at, an uplift happens in all ways around us)...and CELEBRATE.

Today, let's make it pop like pink champagne.  We are CELEBRATING.

Here's the thing....I think it's probably pretty safe to say that we don't make a lot of time to celebrate ourselves.  I'm not talking "throw a huge party, throw confetti, literally pop champagne" (although....why not?!).  I'm also not talking ego.  I'm talking about a simple acknowledgement of where you are at, because sister....IT IS SOMETHING TO CELEBRATE and we don't give ourselves that kind of credit or pat on the bat....maybe ever!

Here's my suggestion (self care homework this week!) :

(This exercise can be as long as you like!  Practice for 30 seconds or HOURS!)

1) Find a space that isn't super distracting.  Does NOT need to be the "perfect yoga room" or all cleaned up.  Just head to the first quiet space you're drawn to and can be comfy in.

2) Pick your favorite yin pose or comfy seated position and start to head there (OR, this could be done during your Yin For An Open Heart OR at the end of your February Full Moon Yoga Flow, both releasing on the MoonRise Online Studio Space today!)

3) Close your eyes and take a few LONG inhales and exhales to shift towards presence and ground yourself.

4) Begin thinking about the things that you have achieved in your life.  What makes you YOU.  What makes you smile.  This could be a gaze back at your lifelong journey (honey, that alone is something to celebrate!) or a look towards a specific moment or goal that you have recently worked towards or even completed.  Maybe you're looking back to something you were wishing for last year and noticing what's in place in your life now.  Maybe it's something you decided to walk away from (release!) and you're acknowledging what that opened up in your life.  Big or small, pick something and let it turn the corner of your lips up BIG TIME (how cool is it to think that we might all be smiling a little extra tonight?!).

5) Remain in your yoga pose for a little while (or a long while if you have the time) and let your thoughts keep shifting back to that thing if they wander.  Let it keep making you smile.  YOU DESERVE IT.

6) If you have the time for a sip of your favorite tea or taking a nice relaxing bath after (heck, maybe with a glass of bubbly in hand!) then GO FOR IT.

* BONUS POINTS if you think back to it a BUNCH this week and it makes you smile extra.

Cheers to you.  You are ABSOLUTELY someone to celebrate.

DREAMY VINYIN + DREAM CATCHER DIY

2.27.20 | 6:00-8:00pm

MIRUS GALLERY

The reaction when I teased this event  at the January Full Moon Flow was PRICELESS.  I've thought back to it at least a handful of times since, you were SO EXCITED and it made me smile big!  I can't wait for this one either.

Our yoga mat can be one of the most powerful places we put our dreams into action.

Let's come together for an all levels yoga flow. We'll begin with powerful Vinyasa to ignite our dreams before surrendering into a melty yin practice.

After we flow, we'll join for a social hour and make dream catchers.

Dream catchers were traditionally created and used by Native American tribes to protect sleeping people, usually children, from bad dreams and nightmares. Native Americans believe that the night air is filled with dreams, both good and bad. When hung above the bed in a place where the morning sunlight can hit it, the dream catcher attracts and catches all sorts of dreams and thoughts into its webs. Good dreams pass through and gently slide down the feathers to comfort the sleeper below. Bad dreams, however, are caught up in its protective net and destroyed, burned up in the light of day. The shape of the dreamcatcher is a circle because it represents the circle of life and how forces like the sun and moon travel each day and night across the sky. The dream catcher web catches the bad dreams during the night and dispose of them when the day comes. As for the good dreams, the feathers act as a fluffy, pillow-like ladder that allows them to gently descend upon the sleeping person undisturbed.

FEBRUARY NEW MOON CIRCLE

2.23.20 | 7:45-9:15pm

YOGA POD WESTMINSTER

The moon represents deep feminine wisdom. Engaging regularly with the moon cycles is a powerful way to become intimately connected with the phases of birth, death, and rebirth.

In our lives, we too are constantly moving through these cycles, seasons, and changes. Connecting to and working with the moon as she cycles, creates a life of deeper meaning and more authentic connection as we are able to live a life with more awareness and intention.

Join us in a women’s circle as we practice grounding techniques, breath work and development of our intuition. Some light, gentle yoga will be infused. We will share space with each other to receive, connect, and create.

What to Bring:
Yoga mat
Water Bottle
Journal or paper to write on

MARCH FULL (SUGAR) MOON YOGA FLOW

3.5.20 | 6:00-7:00pm

MIRUS GALLERY DENVER

FULL. MOON. VIBES 🌕
The moon is our closest celestial neighbor and powerfully influences every living thing on our planet. Within 28 days, the moon passes through 8 phases, each with its own unique characteristics. The energy of the arguably most influential phase - the full moon - lends for a magical, beautiful and important practice.

Join us for a monthly ALL LEVELS Full Moon Inspired Yoga Flow led by Jenny White. Expect to tune into the power, purpose and energy of the full moon this week.

We have a special treat this month because this is the first SUPER moon (“Supermoon” is the popular nickname given to a full Moon that coincides with perigee, which is the point in the Moon’s orbit of Earth where it’s closest to our planet. While at perigee, the full Moon appears a bit brighter and about 7% larger than a typical full Moon.) of 2020 and the LAST FULL MOON OF WINTER (yup, I’m ready for this shift!).

March’s Full Moon is the Sugar Moon, also called the Worm Moon. This is traditionally a time where the sap of sugar maples starts to flow and where the ground begins to soften enough for earthworms to reappear. Roots push their way up through the soil. Spring begins to emerge as earth awakens from its winter slumber.

HOW ARE THINGS SHIFTING TOWARDS SPRING FOR YOU UNDER THIS FULL MOON?!

NOURISH : GROUND, CREATE, EXPAND

SPRING 2020 | date + time tba

DENVER

What you celebrate expands.

What area of your life would you love to EXPAND more?

NOURISH : a mini self care staycation (just an afternoon) quarterly series.

We come together for a unique community self care sess to nourish our hearts, minds and bodies.

Spring 2020 : GROUND, CREATE, EXPAND :

First, we gather as a community to get to know one another and for a bullet journal exercise to tap into the areas in our lives in which we would love to expand a bit.

Next, we unroll our mats for GROUNDING VinYin yoga (light on the vinyasa, heavy on the yin) inspired by our personal desires and intentions.

Post yoga, we'll each CREATE a succulent terrarium over tea and light snacks. (Think heavy on the FUN & community, super cool DIY we get to bring home as a  continual reminder of what we are nourishing.)

Last, with journals in hand we'll EXPAND our minds & hearts as we are led in a community inspiration and discussion by a very special guest, one of my favorite inspirational speakers.

Thank you for reading.

I hope that this journal is a happy weekly love note in your inbox.
