The beginning is really the end. Nothing is as it seems.

This was the most appropriate way to introduce this Lunar Insights newsletter as the New Moon in Pisces has us tying up loose ends at the beginning of 2020. It ain't all dreamy water vibes though. Let's break down the energy of this lunation and how we can use it peel, heal, and keep it real with our mind, body, and spirit during this time.

Pisces, the Uranian water sign, is the last sign of the zodiac. So although it still feels like we're still getting comfortable with the turbulence 2020 has already brought along, we're urged to look at this time as the culmination of everything that's occurred in the last 12 months. Like the ocean waters that flow endlessly, in and out of itself, we're called to remember to do the same during this time; especially as it might feel like life's waves are crashing into us rather than carrying us through.

Tanaaz Chubb writes, "Within you is the same ocean that ebbs and flows with the cycle of the Moon. It’s asking us to take a dive to the bottom of the ocean within us, not to analyze, pick apart, or judge what is there, but to simply observe. To watch the memories, the pains, the dreams, and the triggers. To see them floating by like they are a part of you, but not really you."

The New Moon is forcing us to see what doesn't work so we can find our footing in the new beginning we've been intending since the end of 2019. The time to let go of what's keeping you tied up, drowning in the depths of your own despair, and let live in your healing is NOW.

Think back to February 2019. What's changed since then? What's lingering? What's manifested? Whether you're uncomfortable with the truths that erupt after digging deep within, or you're amazed at the progression of your evolution thus far, faith is critical right now. Especially as Mercury retrogrades in Pisces. I can't say this enough: don't get swept up in internet-induced fears about Mercury retrograde. (If you're curious about it's inner workings, there's a blog post about this on my website.)

If anything, Mercury retrograde forces us to slow down and really look both ways. Pair that with this New Moon energy, and the ask is that we pray and meditate for clarity on our imminent new beginnings before taking a wild plunge in the dark. Astrologers and spiritualists alike recommend that we continue to practice discernment, and prep for the bloom after Mercury stations direct on March 10. Have faith in how the Universe is placing things and people in your path, see them as opportunities, and shift forward slowly but steadily.

Further encouraging our breakthrough is the sextile or "Talent Triangle" the New Moon in Pisces has going on with Uranus and Mars. The three planets, interlocked, energy flowing freely, are influencing us to dive deeply into our God-given gifts. As mentioned, Mercury Rx seems to be complicating the start of new endeavors, but this conjunction won't stop us from peeling back the layers and revealing the tools that were instilled in us since creation.

Embrace Pisces' smart, creative, and deeply intuitive vibes, and start doing research, drawing up blueprints, and making necessary appointments. Drink a ton of water, speak powerful affirmations in a warm bath (perhaps the ones included in this email), and find creative ways to discharge heavy emotions. After March 10, shift into high gear and fill the world with your unique graces. You're more than worthy.

Ask yourself

  1. What big changes have occurred in my life since February 2019?

  2. How can I nurture my mind, body, and spirit while I dive deeply into myself?

  3. What are my talents and gifts? (If this is difficult, think of the things you love doing or the things others come to you for. These are usually skills considered gifts.)

What's the juice?

New Moon in Pisces

  • "Recognize that your body is more than 70 percent water. Recognize that while you have this density to your body, within you is your own ocean. Within you is the same ocean that ebbs and flows with the cycle of the Moon. This is the watery depth this New Moon is asking us to enter. It’s asking us to take a dive to the bottom of the ocean within us, not to analyze, pick apart, or judge what is there, but to simply observe. To watch the memories, the pains, the dreams, and the triggers. To see them floating by like they are a part of you, but not really you."

"Imagine the Moon at the apex and Uranus and Mars with their strong planetary forces, forming the base of this triangle. These three planets are interlocked, their energy flowing harmoniously back and forth, creating a portal of influence." Forever Conscious

  • This new moon has the potential to scour out old fears, regrets, disappointments, anger, feelings of betrayal and loss, shame and other emotional debris. Don’t wallow in them.  These emotions are up because it is time to clear them and move on by engaging creativity, hope, imagination, inspiration and vision of what you want for yourself in the future.” – The Power Path

  • “With Mercury Retrograde also in Pisces we’re intuitively discerning what has been unfolding in the energetic realms.” – Mystic Mamma
  • Pisces speaks of those things that transcend difference and unites us all. With the New Moon conjoined with retrograde Mercury, we’re asked to listen to the subtext. Silence speaks louder than words. We need to listen to our soul’s voice so that we can prepare for the new year ahead. What emerges now is tender new growth, the germ of an idea born from dreams and wishes that we tried to push far away into our unconscious minds.

"But sometimes we just need to feel the feelings, roll with the tide and suspend judgement. Let your intuition guide you through the mists of the unknown." – LUA Astrology

  • "The Sun and Moon are close to retrograde Mercury in the New Moon chart. This leads us consider that new ideas we conceive now may, like yeasted bread dough, show best results if first allowed to "proof" before baking – perhaps until Mercury stations direct on March 9." North Point Astrology

  • "This New Moon in Pisces sits with Mercury retrograde, reminding us that nothing is exactly as it seems and much will be worked out in the process of living. To get too worried about any one problem is to forget to have faith, something Pisces has no shortage of. Belief in how life unfolds is paramount to surfing, something this lunar cycle will teach us boatloads about. We can stress, and we will. We can fret, and we are bound to. We can worry till the cows come home, and we are more than likely to make that mistake now more than ever, but over the course of the next two weeks we’ll be reminded of how foolish it is."
