Hi {{ subscriber.firstName | default('love') }}
How are you doing? I know that the series of events over the past few weeks and months have had significant impact on your life.
I'm thinking of you and my heart goes out to, your family and your friends.
The song "Times Like These" by the Foo Fighters popped into my head today and gave me some great comfort, so I want to share a chunk of the lyrics with you. They honestly might have a completely different meaning than my current interpretation haha BUT to me they are fitting :
It’s times like these you learn to live again
It’s times like these you give and give again
It’s times like these you learn to love again
It’s times like these time and time again
It's times like these.
And so, I want to offer you my current perspective. Amongst shifting things and trying to navigate for my family right now, I've been finding comfort in trying to do at least one lovely little thing a day I might not be doing otherwise. I've created a list of some feel good things you might not otherwise have time for in your life, just to help shift some perspective :
LOVELY LITTLE THINGS :
- Call a friend instead of texting. Have one of those amazing conversations where you actually check in, you laugh, you cry and you end the call feeling amazing and connected.
- Help an elderly neighbor.
- Feng Shui your space in a way that make you feel really HAPPY.
- Take a relaxing bath.
- Re-read your favorite book.
- Watch a movie that makes you laugh so hard you cry.
- Set up a yoga corner and take your practice to your home (you can practice with me on the MoonRise Online Studio!).
- Meditate.
- Write a friend a letter.
- Play a game.
- Take a walk on a sunny day. Get out into nature as much as you can and are safely able to.
- Listen to your favorite album.
- Look through old pictures or watch family videos.
- Make a pile of things you can donate to someone in need.
- Set up a yoga corner and take your practice to your home (you can practice with me on the MoonRise Online Studio!).
- Drink a cup of tea, look out the window and think about what you're super grateful for.
- Spend time on a hobby you can't normally dedicate much time to.
- Take an online course about a topic you're interested in.
- Try a new recipe.
- Begin journaling.
- Start some early spring cleaning.
- Organize your digital photos.
- Get seriously present with your kids, partner or yourself.
- Blast your favorite tunes and have a dance party.
- Color.
- If you're a social media fan, post something nice daily.
- Take a social media break or clean your feed so it's ONLY good stuff you want to see.
- Do something good for someone who needs a smile.
- Send someone a virtual compliment.
- Follow @thehappynewspaper (serious goodness)
- Give your pet (s) some extra love.
I know that "having the extra time at home" right now doesn't feel like a blessing to most of us, it's much more serious than that and please know that I'm not trying to downplay or brush it off. But, I hope that incorporating some nice things you wouldn't normally have the time for helps, during times like these.
