14 Day "You Got This" Challenge

DAY 5

Declutter Time

Day 5: DeClutter time

The goal for today and tomorrow is to clear out clutter in our home to allow our brains and bodies to relax more.

Have you ever walked past something in the house and think "ugh, I still have to do that"  or "I have to clean that out"?  That is a waste of your mental space.

What would happen if you just got it done? You'd feel better for sure!

Today, we are decluttering one area.

We all have those drawers that drive us nuts every time we open it. They become the catch-all for everything we want out of sight. But every time we open that drawer, unconsciously, our mind is "overwhelmed" with clutter just thinking about it.

I know there might be more than one drawer, but take it one day at a time. Focus on one cabinet, one drawer, one dresser that might be overflowing with unnecessary items and clean it out. Tips on decluttering below.

TIPS for decluttering 👇

  • Remove everything from the space you are cleaning out
  • Wipe it down, the area and the items
  • Put back only necessities
  • Find a home for the misfit items
  • Give or throw away items you do not need

Example, there are two drawers in our kitchen that are like magnets for everything. Kids can reach it so that adds to the mess more.  I try to make it a monthly duty to clean these bad boys out.

Before

Who needs pokemon pins and 10 screwdrivers in their kitchen?

After

These drawers hold A LOT of what we need everyday.  So it is important to keep it nice and clean.  Extra cords removed.  Toys put in their proper home elsewhere.  Screwdrivers put back where they belong.  Now everything we need is visible and organized.

Now, today we just did one area.  Make it a goal over the next few weeks to tackle other areas of your home one at a time.

Have fun decluttering!  Can't wait for Day 6! 👕
