Hi {{ subscriber.firstName | default('love') }}
This week, I was humbly reminded of a time that I hired a dance teacher nearly a decade ago to teach at the studio I used to own in Denver. He shared a post of mine and stated that when I hired him nearly 10 years ago, I saved his life. Saved his life?! I had absolutely no idea. This artist's reputation had proceeded him (in the best way possible) so much that I sought him out, basically stalked him to watch one of his classes, dreamed and HOPED he would say yes when I asked if he would teach at my studio. I had no idea that teaching there was exactly what he needed in his life at the time. It both touched my heart deeply and shocked me that I didn't realize what was up with him.
It got me thinking of all of the times that people have impacted my life, and they may never even have known how important their gestures were.
I wrote a few weeks ago about the ripple effect...this interaction reminded me that it's worth keeping at heart on a daily basis. Our actions have the potential to so greatly impact each other. Not that we need ANY reminder of "social distancing" right now, but it's interesting to think of the stats symbolizing a kind gesture. It spreads.
Think back to a time that someone made a gesture to you that changed your day, week, month, year or life. Remember how it made you feel, how the shift of your outlook felt. Maybe even how the course of your life changed.
You have the exact same ability to send out good vibes in the way ONLY YOU can. We each have unique gifts that can uplift and help someone else. Most likely you do it without realizing, on the regular, just because of who you are. But imagine if you made it a purposeful action...to smile at a stranger, to help a neighbor, to call a friend, to donate your time or money, to pay a compliment to someone randomly - anything that is authentic to you. Think about the ripple that would have!
After all of the beautiful gestures I've seen over the last few weeks towards one another, and all of the love and support my family has received (thank you for making me feel so loved), I'm definitely thinking myself on what I can do to pay it forward on a constant basis.
I hope you'll join me in thinking on this and taking action :)
I wish you and your family a beautiful Easter and rest of your weekend. Please note that I won't be streaming yin tonight, but the rest of my classes this week are listed below. Can't wait to practice on the mat (even if it's virtually for now) with you!
