Hello and welcome to our first official Scroobious update!

First and foremost, we hope you and all of those you care about are safe and healthy. To say this is a trying time would be a massive understatement. We have both been isolating with our immediate families for over a month now and recognize how lucky we are to be able to do so and to continue our work remotely.

We are SO thankful to all of you for supporting our mission and signing up for our newsletter. Scroobious’ mission is to shrink the funding gap for female and diverse founders by creating an efficient way for investors to source outside their own networks and for underestimated founders to connect with funders they otherwise couldn’t access. In our new virtual, risk-averse climate it is more important than ever to promote the diverse entrepreneurs who grow our ecosystem and to build a structure so that investors can efficiently find them.

We are currently working with a tech team to build our initial prototype, which should be complete in May. We will then onboard our first cohort of both founder and funder beta testers and work with them over the summer to get feedback on the platform. After a great deal of research, we have our hypotheses about what both founders and funders need from Scroobious, and now it's time for us to see how close we have come. We don't expect to be right on all counts (it would be spooky if we were) and we're excited to find out what we don't know.

Our ask for today is to contact us if you or someone you know might be interested in being part of our free beta program, either as a founder or as a funder. Send us an email at beta@scroobious.com and we’ll be more than happy to chat about it and answer any and all questions.

That's all for now! If you read this far, you must be related to one of us. Or, you're really, really interested in our mission. Either way, please feel free to reply to this email and let us know what you're thinking and how you’re doing. We couldn’t be doing this without your support and we sincerely thank you.

Until next time!

- Allison & Ann

From our Slack*

AS: Your whole family are such serious music nerds, what're you all listening to? We need some new stuff.

AB: There are so many great livestreams right now! We've really been enjoying Ben Gibbard, Colin Meloy, and Ben Folds. Head's up - Ben Folds is not keeping it safe it for kid ears.

AS: Uh, most of my conversations with my husband aren't really safe for kid ears at the moment ... Annnnyway ... Have you heard Fiona Apple's new album, 'Fetch the Bolt Cutters?' It feels so timely, just the right amount of old Fiona balanced with post-2016 feminist ennui.

*Allison is based near Boston, Ann is in New York. We're a fully remote team so Slack is our lifeline.
