The kitchen is often the heart of the home. For many it has become the epicenter of daily life. It is easily one of the most used spaces of the home, especially during the current state we seem to find ourselves. Because of this the kitchen can start to feel daunting and medieval. However, with a few small changes it can begin to touch all five of the senses again.
Updating cabinets can be timely, expensive and not to mention chaotic. Switching out your handles and pulls can save you from all of that. It is a cost-effective way to update your space until you are ready for a bigger renovation. There are also times that you really love the way your handle or pulls feel and simply wish they were in a more modern color, why not spray paint them. The smallest amount of paint can give depth to a room that felt flat before.
Another way to change up the scene is, switching out your kitchen towels. Tea towels are especially great as they absorb moisture really well. We are loving Geometry towels as they have a vast selection and it looks more like art than a plain old towel. Using patterns, colors and textures with towels can make the atmosphere of the kitchen feel even more inviting.
Let's talk about dishes for a moment! Another lovely way to breathe life into your space. With so many options for pattern and color you really can’t go wrong. I’m not suggesting you go buy an entire new set of 12, however, We're urging you to think about this on a smaller scale. A set of small bowls with bright colors or patterns, can give just the pop you are looking for while eating your favorite ice cream or bowl of soup. Large colorful pots are always a showstopper and become a talking point. Le Creuset is one such company that has beautiful cookware in wonderful color options and they are so pretty displayed on the stovetop. *HINT: Le Creuset is having a 20% off sale on their full price items (this never happens!).

A great way to breathe life into your kitchen is with plants. Herbs are simple and can brighten any room with just the tiniest pop of color. Even better, they take up little space, benefit your health, and smell amazing. Crate and Barrel has a simple, white herb planter and is a great example of how to make an impact in a small way. Anthropologie has a planter box you can mount on the wall, they come in great colors and bonus, they have a light! Planters pictured below.
