Happy Mothers Day!

Pre-Orders

We'll be selling at the Pflugerville, Elgin, and Taylor markets this week.  Pre-Order for pick up at either market using the button below.

The Flock is Flourishing

We took another step forward this week.  Due to the overwhelming

demand for

free range eggs,

we purchased

20 more hens.

These are 5 month old Red Sex Links (cross between a Leg Horn and a Rhode Island Red).  They should start laying in a few weeks.

They’re still a bit shy, but I’m sure they’ll warm up to the other ladies shortly.  That brings us up to about 50 hens!

Sowing the Swale

Three hundred

feet cleared,

covered, and

seeded.

I get by with a little help from my friends…

This swale was the second John put in for his orchard, and is a perfect place for me to plant sprawling melons, squash, and gourds. A swale is basically a ditch on contour designed to catch rainwater in the ditch so that it slowly infiltrates the soil instead of running off. The added depth of topsoil and moisture retention is ideal for trees.

John planted peach, apple, and plum trees that he started from seed last year. This week my friend Rebekah Alford of Bucking Goat Farm, my two nephews, Justin & Noah Hammack, and I cleared and planted the rest. We put in cantaloupe, watermelon, squash, and pumpkins down one side and will plant a second crop on the other side later this summer.

We also cleared and laid fabric down in

the kitchen

garden near

the house.

Delivery Begins in July

We're excited about the amount of interest we've received in the buyers club.  It seems that the recent pandemic announcements have awakened people to the fragility of our agricultural systems.

If you'd like to ensure the highest quality meats are available on a monthly basis for you and your family, sign up for our Meat Buyers Club today.
