Why have a blog anyway?

A website (aka your blog) is your very own home on the internet. And quite literally it's the only place where you will 100% own your content and your community. If Instagram goes away tomorrow where will you be left?

In addition, you can leverage you blog while pitching brands, get even more connected to the people who READ what you share, it serves as an online portfolio of your work and you can collect emails. Giving you direct access to your community! Win, win, win in my book. 

You may be asking yourself, how do I start?

While I'm not going to tell you my way is the right way or the only way (I use Wordpress and self-host through Bluehost), it is an easy way for me to share how you can get yourself started off on the right foot.

Whether you choose Bluehost or another service provider, self-hosting insures you OWN everything that has to do with the content you're creating. Again if Wordpress ceases to exist, you still have your home on the internet so long as you self host. 

A final pro tip:

+ You don't have to post on your site everyday, or even once a week. You website should be wear your most epic, thought through, beautitfully curated content lives. So post quality over quantity.
