In case you were curious, I always do research before starting and sometimes during a new project. I just love history and folklore, so anything I can find out about a setting or idea behind one of my books is a huge bonus. 

For Wolf Shield, my setting is Secaucus, New Jersey and as I was looking up some interesting facts, I found out that the land there was used to raise pigs for a huge part of the 20th Century. Over a quarter million pigs were raised just fifteen minutes from where I grew up. And here I thought it was just that place where my mom took me shopping on Saturday mornings because of the great outlet stores. Just goes to show you, you never know what's under the dirt until you dig.
