As I’ve been restructuring how I run my business over the last few years, and ultimately, how I earn my income (without supporting organizations that are harming our planet) — I’ve thought a lot about how much effort I’ve put into worrying about being perfect within the zero waste space (rightfully so, because care matters!). Grappling with the battle between knowing it’s not little ‘ole me who is the major problem here, while still putting in all of my daily effort. Even though it’s not something we see in our personal every days— big corporations and the wealthiest tax bracket in this country, are ultimately responsible for most of the damaging effects humans have wreaked on climate change.
I wondered to myself — should I be responsible at all? Why am I putting so much pressure (that it feels as if it’s ruining my life sometimes) over this when it’s not making a “massive” relative change. What role do I really play? And what is okay and not okay? What are the boundaries of my actions?
