002: The Sursy Series

Twenty-twenty was one hell of a year for everyone, and 2021 is coming in hot out of the gate already. At least we're all in it together? Le sigh

The past year has been a character building one for me; fundraising for a hospitality concept in the middle of a global pandemic while running a design, retail, and travel-based business throughout has certainly not been easy, but there have been good learnings and there have been some high points. Most notably: we're under contract on our Motel property (read more here) and received a $25,000 Opportunity Zone Grant from the City of Lakewood to support with due diligence related expenses for the project.

The OZ Grant was a truly humbling and exciting ‘W’ in this development journey, given that the basis of being awarded funding was enormous positive support received from the community at large. A shout-out to the 40 West Arts District, members of the Two Creeks Neighborhood Organization, and the Lakewood Economic Development team (Vanessa Zarate in particular!); could not have done it without you.

Looking ahead, we're seeing bookings pick back up on the Airbnb front (check out the STR data in Good Reads below) and I've said it once and I'll say it again: people WILL travel and gather again; I couldn't be more excited to be carving out a niche destination for the modern traveler and consumer to flock to on the other side of this pandemic…and as always, I'm excited to support as many local makers and small businesses along the way.

Thanks for your continued support! My direct contact info is below in case you have questions, want to learn more, or simply want to catch up.

Cheers,

Lauren

We're designing a mid-century Main Bedroom and Backyard Oasis, and the name of the game has been DIY! My {very impressive} clients have tackled everything from a color-blocked paint job to intricate modern barn doors and are even in the process of gutting their bathroom to bring the design vision to life all on their own!

DENVER, CO

Last Fall we wrapped up a project for some very good friends who wanted to give the Main Bedroom in their craftsman home in the Highlands neighborhood a design refresh. We did a bold statement ceiling, a full wall of floor-to-ceiling curtains to center the space, and incorporated all new linens, furnishings, and pieces by Denver artist Noelle Phares. …Maeve the Kitty approves!
