FROM PASTOR BEN:

I'm so glad you're here and look forward to connecting with you and sharing what God is teaching me each week.

Epic Family,

YES, absolutely, God still has a purpose for your life. Some of us used to have dreams about what God might have for our lives, but somewhere along the way, those dreams eroded. Others of us have a sense of what God’s vision is for our lives, but we can’t seem to close the gap between our vision and our reality. And there’s more than a few of us who wonder if this challenging season has eliminated God’s purpose for our lives.

I’ve been writing a book over the last couple of years and I’ve turned it into a course that will debut next week. The course is called Bring it Out and here’s the tagline: closing the gap between your vision and your reality. Throughout this course, I’ll be sharing all kinds of principles that will help you know and live out God’s purpose for your life. I want to share three of these with you now.

Whatever God put in you, He wants to bring out of you. God created you with unique gifts, skills, and passions. There’s a reason all of those things are there. By paying attention to the specific way God designed you, you’ll discover clues that will direct you toward the kinds of things God might have in store for your life. Are you bringing out what God put into you?

Contentment + Godly Motivation + Heart for Others = Permission to have Great Ambition. I have lived so much of my life thinking I had to accomplish something specific in order to gain fulfillment. I’ve also spent way too much of my time making everything all about me. Philippians 2:3 says, “Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves.” I find it quite interesting that this was written by one of the most ambitious people in all of Scripture (Paul). Ambition, therefore, must be something that can be a good thing or a bad thing. I have found that when I have contentment in Jesus and a heart for others, God is more than happy for me to have great ambition.

The purpose for your life originates in the heart of God. So many people think that their purpose begins with them. There would be nothing wrong with this, if we created ourselves. But if we have a Creator (and we do), then our purpose must begin with him. Over time, I’ve learned this truth: The only reason I have a purpose is because God has a purpose. This means that my life’s purpose and your life’s purpose must align with what God’s purpose is in this world.

If you don’t have a group yet, I’d love to have you be a part of this Bring it Out course. If this doesn’t work, we have over 50 others to choose from and you can see them all here: Epic Groups.

Whatever God put in you, He wants to bring out of you. I’m excited to see what God is going to do in and through your life this fall.

Much Love,

Pastor Ben
