Addressing the funding gap for undernetworked founders by using video and data science to facilitate connections where networks have failed.

Hello First name / there!

The compilation above shows just some of the amazing founders who are part of the Scroobious beta program. They are all wonderful people building impressive companies and I'm so fortunate to be a part of their fundraising journey.

People invest in people, but the character of those pictured above cannot be communicated in a static pitch deck. The ability to communicate personal characteristics can literally make or break an undernetworked founder's company and many never get the chance. A pitch video instantly humanizes in a way a deck never can. Incorporating this human connection in cold sourcing will systemically better the odds for underrepresented founders.

For investors, watching a high level pitch video as your first point of contact rather than flipping through a deck will give you vastly more information so you can make better decisions about first meetings and make those first meetings as productive as second meetings. Broaden your sourcing funnels while being more efficient with your time.

This message is clearly resonating as evidenced by Scroobious' growing waitlist and continued involvement in media, speaking, and events. Read the sections below for information on fun recent podcasts and really exciting events coming up.

To keep up with interest and to build out our prototype to a more robust MVP, we will be raising a Friends & Family round. I will be sending details to some of you in the coming week. If you would like to be included in the conversation, please reply and I will add you to the list.

Thank you for reading this. Thank you for helping me. I appreciate you.

In Your Words

Each newsletter features the perspective of one of our members.

Today I'd like to introduce you to Jehue Francois. He is the Co-Founder & CEO of Geaux Network, a multimedia company that curates and creates content on a platform for multicultural people to find shows that are relatable and reflective of their values and lifestyles. Their founding team was tired of seeing stereotypes of their culture on tv so they are creating the first network dedicated to showing truly authentic and diverse people and stories.

Jehue and his wife, Katleen Francois, who is the Co-Founder & Chief Creative Officer, are bursting with energy and positivity. They have assembled an incredibly accomplished management team and advisory group. I'm so lucky to have gotten to know them over the past few months!

“The microcosm that is your life when you’re creating a company is an echo chamber built upon all you’ve experienced and learned along your path. Imagine if those experiences are comprised of a constant bombardment of the many ways you’re ill equipped to lead a company and conversations about “flipping” every opportunity you come across because money isn’t a guarantee. The experiences of an underrepresented founder are often rooted in systemically lowered standards about what they can achieve from the world around them.

For the founder without this lived experience, hearing such negativity could serve as a death blow to their entrepreneurial psyche. The founders who have always lived in this negative space have the advantage of persistence in the face of market adversity. Our negative experiences mold us into dynamic, tried, passionate, and hardened founders capable of making incredible things out of very little."
