SevenThings

A week's worth of Inspiration, Eating, Listening,

Watching, Reading, Working & Making

hey there, friend!

I had such high hopes in January. So much to look forward to, seemingly little to worry about, and feeling like we were on such solid ground.  Unfortunately, 2020 had other ideas. And this was another week from this year that's almost broken me.  Another family health crisis, this time on the other side of the fam, and on the other side of the country.  On top of all the other things still in our world at the same time.

It's all left me distracted, worried, and anxious - the three words that will always describe 2020 for me.  (Well, those three, and “Track Your Shipment”).

And I know that you are GOING THROUGH IT right now, too.  Juggling not only your life, but the lives of your family, trying to keep your chin up in the face of all that's going on in the world, wondering how we're all gonna make it through this. You are absolutely not alone.

I've decided all we can do is take everything one step, and one day, at a time.  Ask for help when we need it, rest & recharge when we can, and give only as much as we are able.

So I find myself latching on to little moments of joy, brief moments of hope, and small bits of comfort.  Like a Griha Pravesh ceremony for the cutest baby dog. Or Cate Blanchett giving us caftan adjacent glamour on the Venice red carpet. A Twitter bot that's good for you.  An app that reminds you to unclench your jaw and breathe. A talisman worn for a good presentation vibes (it worked)! An annual re-read timed to the season that is like a cozy blanket for my brain. And listening to these two women chit-chat and then belt to the heavens for a few hours.

Here are a few more small things that helped me get through this week.

I hope they do the same for you, wherever and however you may be.

PIN OF THE WEEK

This wedding, shared by Domino on their Instagram feed this week, feels like the future of weddings for me.  Or at least, I HOPE it's the future of weddings: intimate, easy-going, seasonal, local, and filled with love.  Also, I love a non-white bridal gown!
