for Venice

Dear friends,

A lot happened since we last sent Postcard from Venice, just after an extreme flood hit Venice in November 2019. And when Venice was under the coronavirus lockdown for ten weeks from mid-March, it took a while for Venetians to take a step back and realign..

La Venessiana's team has been growing since the lockdown, mirroring the changes taking place outside in Venice: Input will come from my cousins Diego and Gabriele and from our neighbor Gianni, an avid photographer and experienced journalist knowing all about boats, wine, the Lagoon and regattas. A relaunch behind the scenes, so to say, a new design of our website, and a couple of new ideas, such as our first book exploring what happened in Venice during the past 30 years, and how a “normal city” turned into a “tourist magnet”. Click here to read the first chapter of the book!

Many of you asked what is happening in Venice NOW, and how Venice fared during the lockdown, which must have seemed like a black box when the city was out of touch. So today, we share a couple of projects, providing tools for you to catch up with news from Venice.

Discover the new Dream of Venice online bookstore, and a special story taking you behind the scenes of the Dream of Venice books. And, there's also a new film about Venice in the making, called Anima Veneziana.
