Libra season brings us its very own Super New Moon in Libra, the closest New Moon to Earth all 2020. Super New Moons magnify the effects of a lunation, so this one is serendipitously magnifying the opportunities we have to create powerful shifts at this moment. Wherever you are in the world, you know how important SHIFTING is right now. From chaos into harmony especially. It's very important that we pay attention right now.
Let's get into it and how we can best navigate all of this cosmic energy for healing, practical mind, body, soul self-care, and divine alignment.
We know that New Moons are prime time for reflecting and setting intentions for what we want to bring to fruition, but what kind of power does a Super New Moon in Libra yield? Well, Libra, represented by the scales, is the air sign concerned with balance, justice, and harmony in relations. She, along with Mars and Mercury who are both in retrograde, may stir up some problems if we aren't purposefully mindful, but that's what we're here for – to find out how we can and should move right now.
Let's break everything down into applicable information.
Love is not an option, but the only option.
New Moons come along to gift us with the divine opportunity to move into alignment, but its significance depends on the zodiac sign it's occupying. This Super New Moon in Libra, ruled by love and beauty planet Venus, did not come to play. This entire year has brought with it huge cosmic aspects that mirror the massive changes that have transpired here on Earth in the last 10 months. Challenge yourself to shift your perspective because as 2020 tapers off, we don't have time to waste. We never have. We are down the wire and Libra is here to help us see where and how we need to move to shift all aspects of our lives into harmony.
Feelings are a focal point right now. Specifically, the contrast between fear-based emotions and love and how they play a part in our lives. If we look closely, fear is at the center of every single one of our problems, every grievance, every occurrence that has framed this year. Although New Moons are dark and cannot be seen by the naked eye, Libra is shining a bright light on us that can be felt deeply in regards to what she's all about – balance, harmony, beauty, and justice in all of our relations. This New Moon, we're being afforded the opportunity to see the aspects of our lives that are out of balance and harmonize them with love.
In “A Return to Love” Marianne Williamson says, “Love is what we are born with. Fear is what we learn. The spiritual journey is the unlearning of fear and prejudices and the acceptance of love back in our hearts. Love is the essential reality and our purpose on earth. To be consciously aware of it, to experience love in ourselves and others, is the meaning of life.”
Tensions will mount, there is no doubt about that, but if we accept the soft, loving nudges to uproot fear-based reactions and replace them with seeds of compassion, we'll have taken advantage of this golden Super New Moon energy. If we instead let our ego take the wheel, responding to our problems and drama with “a need to have the last word because you won't stand for any bullshit blah blah blah,” those soft loving nudges will be replaced with what will feel like a punch in the face.
If you feel like you're being broken open right now, it's all on purpose. We have to acknowledge where we're submitting to low vibrational feelings, lacking harmony, and denying our truest, highest selves the space to exist and expand. Shift or be shifted. Again, we have no more time to lose. Don't find yourself in the new world we're building with old-world problems.
Confusion amplified, but again, a golden opportunity.
The award for Maximum Cosmic Opportunity to Evolve Disguised as Chaos goes to…Mercury and Mars! As we know from previous lunar insights, Mars has been in retrograde since September 9, and this week we welcomed another retrograde for Mercury. Retrogrades literally slow planets down, seeming to also slow us down and cause all types of fires for us here on Earth, but as always, a fire that burns down calls for hands to rebuild bigger and stronger.
Both the Sun and the Moon in Libra are closely opposing Mars retrograding in Aries. Mars, who rules Aries, is slowing down in its elements of action, motivation, passion, courage, anger, and war. As we know, as above so below. All of this energy can easily put people at major odds. More than that, it can spur impulsive and destructive fury-fueled actions. In a world where all we're seeing is hate, opposition, and fighting, it's easy to feel defeated, but Mars retrograde serves the purpose of allowing us to rise above all of it.
If you're a member here, you're here to learn how to use cosmic energy to heal the parts of you that keep you from evolving into your highest self. Evolution occurs as a result of removing fear-based responses from our emotional queue and letting our divinity bring us higher, changing the outcome and the trajectory of our lives. Even if everything in our lives feels like a dumpster fire, ask yourself: How do I want to respond? What kind of response would defuse the fire while still allowing me to move forward with authenticity and integrity?
Mercury, ruling planet of communication, is retrograding in Scorpio, the shadowy water sign concerned with truth, honesty, and beginnings and endings. What we already know about Mercury retrograde always holds importance – the way she messes with our electronics, our work, and all forms of communication – but this one, positioned at the beginning of the end of one of the craziest years we've all lived, not to mention during the height of one of the most important American elections ever, is especially critical. Like Mars, she's not just here to mess with us, she's here to offer us opportunities to transmute the chaotic energy surrounding us into a more clear, harmonized existence.
Things that have been simmering in the shadows are erupting, old issues and miscommunications are coming to a head, and all of it feels inconvenient and painful. But it's important to note that even the most terrible feelings are tools on our journey. They trigger the internal work that needs to be done, and the parts of us that are screaming for healing as we fully immerse ourselves in remembering wtf we are.
Screenshot these reminders and set them as your background, write yourself a note and post it somewhere you can see every day, but stay reminded that everything that comes your way these next few weeks and beyond are instrumental to your new world.
By all means, be gentle with our bodies and minds.
Knowing what needs to be done to heal your exterior calls for you to carve out time to heal yourself in private. We're being stretched past what we thought were our breaking points were as we expand into more of who we truly are, so self-care needs to be a non-negotiable right now.
Libra season reminds us of the beauty of expansion, so self-care can look like alone time while beautifying your body and creating space to romance yourself. However, retrograde energy can make us feel heavy, lethargic, and anxious, so your alone time consisting of a good cry, a healthy meal, and a good nap is amazing too. Taking extra special care of your mental health during such conflicting times is imperative, but don't neglect that toll that all this energy can take on your body too. Breathe through each moment, and let each breath take you a little deeper on this road to self-discovery. We really are in this together.
