the new covered Bike Shelters on Auraria Campus will be completed this month! The shelters have two locations, one on the South side of the Auraria Library and the other on the Northwest corner of North Classroom.

What's going on with transit?

Auraria's RTD CollegePass and COVID Safety

64% of our campus population uses RTD's bus or light rail services to get to campus. Due to COVID-19 and the significant reduction of on-campus classes, the four Auraria institutions decided to suspend the CollegePass during the summer and fall semesters. The institutions are currently trying to decide whether or not to reinstate the CollegePass for the spring 2021 semester and SACAB issued a survey last week in order to collect student feedback. While the survey is technically closed, you can learn more about the CollegePass situation and the latest research on covid safety while using transit by visiting our FAQ page.

Did you know that 32% of Auraria's campus greenhouse gas footprint is derived from emissions related to commuting behavior?

As part of the ASCP's climate action planning effort, the Alternative Transportation subcommittee has been working to identify and evaluate strategies to reduce commuting-related GHG emissions. This committee—made up of faculty, staff and student transportation afficionados across all four of Auraria's institutions and local partner organizations—meets bi-weekly to discuss GHG reduction strategies related to a specific alternative transportation topic. The committee will be finalizing a draft list of strategies (evaluated based on estimated cost, GHG reduction potential, feasibility, equitability, etc.) by March, when the campus community at large will have a chance to weigh in

and provide feedback.

WE NEED YOUR INPUT!

The ASCP is assessing campus interest for electric vehicle (EV) charging stations so we can determine whether or not to pursue grant funding for this initiative. Please take this 3 minute survey to help us assess the EV needs of our campus community!

The campus sustainability survey concludes soon! The information gathered by this survey will inform how sustainability efforts are implemented on the Auraria Campus.

All students, staff, and faculty from the Community College of Denver, Metropolitan State University of Denver, and the University of Colorado Denver who have attended or are currently attending classes at the Auraria Campus are invited to participate.

In-Person Event Changes due to Covid-19

5 people or less!

Denver County has recently tightened their group gathering restrictions. Groups can only gather in parties of 5 or less, unless the group is in a classroom setting. This has caused the ASCP to cancel October's Cherry Creek Cleanup and to reassess how we will host events moving forward.

We still need your help updating our waste bin signage around campus! In groups of five or less, volunteers will go around the buildings of the Auraria Campus and adhere new Landfill, Compost, and Recycling stickers to bins.

Stay up to date with upcoming events here!

2019 Alternative Transportation Survey

Image 1

According to an MSU Denver alternative transportation study conducted in 2019, transportation costs vary by vehicle, with alternative transportation options being the most affordable.

The research also uncovers the commuters need for more bike lanes in the city, the most popular commuting behaviors of students, faculty, and staff, and more!
