#1 Mom, gets first pick.Select a dress or outfit you love first! It’s always a good idea to start by finding something that flatters you and makes you feel beautiful while wearing it. Another idea: If you have a daughter, you can build family outfits from a dress a patterned dress your daughter wears. See the sample below. My incredibly talented friend, Steph, put together this full styling board herself and shared it with me.
Grab your color palette from the dress below. Self conscious about arms? Go with ¾ length sleeves or flowy ones.
Men and Boys: Opt for long sleeves over polos. You can't go wrong with a crew neck or a collared shirt. Collared shirts can be layered with a sweater or without.
More ideas for the boys.

# 2 . Choose Color Groups.
Traditional and classic: Tans, denim, black, white, cream
Jewel tones: Purple, cranberry, teal, squash yellow, navy
Bright and colorful: Red, blue, orange, yellow, bright pink
Neutrals: Sage, navy, black, cream, olive
Fall colors: Purple, orange, pink, and brown
Holiday colors: Red, cream, gray, black
Spring and summer: Tan, coral, gray, yellow Color pop: Stick with whites, tans, grays, and just a pop of red or pink
#3. Patterns
If you choose to include patterns, just be sure to complement them with some solids. If you have too many patterns, then your clothing may become a distraction.
Similarly, avoid wearing clothing with big logos.
#4 Match your house. If you plan on hanging these images in your home or in a specific room or office, then it’s a great idea to wear the colors for that room. If you don’t have a specific style in your home, then you can choose to wear neutral tones.
