Team Need Sleep

You can conquer the world or settle for your desired field of profession, but even God took a day to rest when He created the world! Starting a business is rewarding, but it takes quite a bit of time, effort, and energy. That applies to any goal worth accomplishing – advanced education, a happy marriage, raising kids, or becoming among the best in your professional field. No matter the task, you will need to dedicate time to accomplish whatever goal you set out to achieve.

Lack of adequate rest can lead to a multitude of cognitive and physical health issues. Good sleep plays a significant role in critical thinking, problem solving, concentration, alertness and reasoning. In addition to healthy cognitive function, adequate rest is great for your immune system and physical health. “Team No Sleep” isn’t the best team to play for! Don’t get me wrong, there’s always something that causes the midnight oil to be burned, it just shouldn’t be every night.

Listen to your body! Owning a business is quite stressful and lack of adequate rest can cause things to fall further apart, so plan accordingly. The best practice is to wake up early, check your calendar for the day, pray/meditate, and begin accomplishing your checklist. Success does not come easy and some can make it on three or four hours of sleep per night. Sleeping at 12:00 am and waking at 4:00 am is not for everyone, but it can be rewarding to wake up early to tackle the day. What’s your schedule like? If you’re a night owl, try waking up early for a week and see if you notice a difference in your energy or how much you get accomplished earlier than usual.
