I'm so glad you're here and look forward to connecting with you and sharing what God is teaching me each week.

Epic Family,

Have you noticed that how you start your day goes a long way in determining the kind of day that you have? This has always been true, but I feel it’s especially true during this time. Every day offers us a chance to start over. Even if yesterday was a day we’d like to forget, God’s mercies are new each time we awake from our sleep (see Lamentations 3:23).

So, what is your morning routine? Do you reach for your phone and go straight to your email? Do you get consumed with all that you have to do for that day? This is one I often have to battle. Or do you open your day by inviting God into it (with a strong cup of coffee of course)? There’s a great prayer Moses shares with us in the only psalm attributed to him.

Psalm 90:14-15 Satisfy us in the morning with your unfailing love, that we may sing for joy and be glad all our days. Make us glad for as many days as you have afflicted us, for as many years as we have seen trouble.

Satisfy us in the morning with your unfailing love. Isn’t this a great prayer to start our day? Every human being spends their entire life looking for satisfaction. Unfortunately, we have all sought to find satisfaction in things that are bad for us or even in good things, but not in God. Instead, let’s ask God to be the One who satisfies us in the morning with His unfailing love. You and I have been through a crazy year. Perhaps you have lost your job or your home or a relationship. We have all lost something, but none of us have lost the great love of our Heavenly Father. May you begin each day asking Him to satisfy you.

We want to sing for joy and be glad all our days. I know some of us are more into music than others. But God has given all of us music as a way to express our thoughts and feelings. Songs can reach a place in the depths of our hearts that few other things are able to. Let me give you a few songs that I think can bring you joy:

Restore what we have lost in this season. “Make us glad for as many days as you have afflicted us.” Start asking God to restore what’s been lost. Beg him to restore your joy if you’ve lost it. Ask him to get your kids back into school and for our church to be able to regather in person soon. Ask him for what you need when it comes to your employment situation. If you have lost hope, I know He would love to restore that in your life. Maybe there’s a friendship that could use some reconciliation. Close your eyes and picture the day where you recover specific things you’ve lost in this season. Now, by faith, ask God and trust Him to make that a reality for you.

God is at work in our Epic community, so our work is never in vain.

Much Love,
