Welcome to the Blue Hunter's Moon in Taurus!

Hello my dear First name / one,

You’ve probably already heard a lot about tomorrow’s full Blue Hunter’s Moon in Taurus. So, I will keep the astrology short and succinct on this one.

For those of us in the United States, it is the second full moon in the month of October, earning it the title of a Blue Moon. And as the first full moon to follow the Harvest Moon back on October 1st, it is known as the Hunter’s Moon. Now that we have gathered the fruits of our spring and summer labors, we give the seeds back to the earth and focus on the last hunt that will provide us with the warmth to sustain us through the winter.

What are you hunting now?

What can you learn about, track, follow, and bring down to serve yourself and the collective?

What do you want to warm you for the rest of this year?

Taurus seeks stability and safety, especially through material gains. But with this moon conjunct (at 90° to) forward-looking and revolutionary Uranus, we are being asked to embody the lesson that change is the only constant. We are given the opportunity to awaken into a new line of thinking, a new way of relating. This energy is disruptive, so expect some resistance. It can easily put folks on edge or cause impulsive actions or reactions. Accepting change with flexibility, adaptability and an open mind are going to be key for the next two weeks.

FOR THE BODY

Find the ways in which you can nurture your flexibility. Give yourself gifts of rest, and warmth, and.. yeah, go ahead and get yourself that new sweater!

🌕

Taurus affects the neck; the throat, the larynx, vocal cords and thyroid. Drink soothing tea and broth.

🌕

Be mindful of how you’re using your voice. Let it be for songs of resistance and shouts of praise. Or better yet, gentle words to the ones you love.

Taurus is ruled by the planet Venus, and she herself has currently moved into Libra, giving us the extra boost of passion and love-fueled energy that we’re going to need for these next two weeks. For a great bit on Venus in Libra, check out my favorite astrology podcast here. (She’s a fast talker, I always have to listen twice, but DAMN she is always spot on without any ego or extra frills.)

On a related note, there has been a distinct tug o’war between the masculine and feminine energies this year. I go down a rabbit hole about anger as expressed by feminine energy here.

In Human Design terms, the moon will be in Gate 24, Line 2. This Gate is in the Ajna Center, the processing hub, and it is where the myriad ideas and inspirations from the Head funnel through the transformative filter of realization. Right now things cannot be conceptualized based on logic, reason or experience. They can only be realized as they are. Line 2 is the recognition of this as adaptation. However, be careful not to think that this is a personal achievement or that realization itself can produce anything. It is a natural phenomenon that leaves us flexible to take action in new and inspired ways.

Can you feel the thinning of the veil?

As the days become shorter, the light becomes less, we are closer to the Death part of the Life Death Life cycle. We get a whole season to honor our ancestors, to commune with those passed over, to dip into our own shadows.

These days, I spend more time in meditation. I write letters to those I’ve lost. I wear more family jewelry and I clean the pieces that I wear daily. I often take myself on walks or hikes and ask my old dog, Macaroni Jones, who passed years ago, to come along with me. (I think he enjoys the Pacific Northwest.)

A fun exercise to try is cooking from memory:

If you had an ancestor who cooked for you, take a stab at their signature dish without the recipe.

Reach out to them in prayer or quiet conversation and ask for their help. You may surprise yourself. Put on some music they would like and set a place for them at the table or in the kitchen to keep you company while you butcher their recipe make their favorite dish. I jest, but it's not about getting it totally right. It's about connecting with the cord that runs through us.

You can even try this with ancestors or loved ones who didn’t cook. More often than not, we can receive amazing closure and even new knowledge from these conversations.

Do you have traditions or rituals that you love during this time of year?

Are you looking to start a new tradition or ritual for this time and not sure how to get started?
