Hi First name / friend,

I hope you're creating space for and embracing juicy pockets of rest & laughs this week. Both are forms of resistance & potent medicine.

One of the most common questions I get, is where do I get all the herbs for the medicine I make in the Jam Haw apothecary!? This is a totally valid and understandable question. There can be a lot of mystery involved when purchasing products that started out as plants & many of you want to get started on your own medicine making journeys as well!

I decided to compile a small (non exhaustive) list of herb farms, growers, & retailers I recommend here! These are sources I feel good about sharing with consideration of land ethics, sustainability, & business practices in mind! There are even a few Black &/or Queer owned & operated sources. *More please!*

When it comes to making medicine with herbs, it's extremely important to me to consider where they come from & prioritize building relationships & connections along the way. In the past, I have sourced from larger retailers whose ethics are extremely questionable & plant practices are extractive & harmful! I personally feel the need to shift my own sources in the shop towards more of these community based, smaller farms & retailers. The medicine ends up feeling that much more potent anyway, tbh.

Other places we can look for herbs are: our own gardens & backyards, spice/ tea/ produce aisles in the grocery store, farmer's markets, herb CSA's, & local herb shops.

That's it for this week's jam. I'm keepin it light & sweet, using some of my fave tools to get me thru: breath, tincs, tapping, & laughs.

Sending my love.. see you next week,

Jamesa

P.S. If you have any other herb (or small biz!) related questions, ask away! I'm currently building an FAQ's page for the website. Seriously, anything!

🎁 Use code ‘2EVILS’ through 11/13 for 20% off all products in the shop! I'm especially downing the Mint Condition & Milky Oats tinctures this week to restore my nerves & relieve stress!
