The power of sharing your voice.

When I write, I'm thinking about more than word choice and grammar. I'm using my lens to contextualize and interpret an idea, situation or current event. That lens is informed by lived experience, both personal and professional, which is ultimately what makes every writer's voice unique.

Acknowledging the power in your voice is the first step in the journey. The second is finding unwavering confidence in that voice, knowing we all have something powerful to share with the world, simply by being ourselves.

When I'm tasked with storytelling, I often remind myself of the following (and share this humble advice with you). The words do not need to be perfect to have impact. So, speak up. Speak out. Someone out there is waiting to hear your perspective.

P.S. Remember, civic engagement offers another opportunity to have your voice heard. Please make a plan and go vote! Every ballot matters.

With gratitude,

Jennifer I ngham, MSC
