Epic Family,

Do you believe that all things are possible with God? Whenever we’re in a challenging season, we tend to lower our expectations about what we think is possible. Have we forgotten the ways in which God has worked in the past?

The Israelites found themselves wandering in the desert for 40 years. Though God had done so much for them previously, they began to doubt whether He would show up again. I’m guessing you can look at your past and see many moments where God came through for you. If that’s true for you, why are you not fully trusting Him for your future? Look at how this happened for them and see if you can come up with your own list of all God has done.

Psalm 78:11 They forgot what he had done, the wonders he had shown them. (v.11)

Psalm 78:17-20 But they continued to sin against him, rebelling in the wilderness against the Most High. They willfully put God to the test by demanding the food they craved. They spoke against God; they said, “Can God really spread a table in the wilderness? True, he struck the rock, and water gushed out, streams flowed abundantly, but can he also give us bread? Can he supply meat for his people?”

Are you putting God to the test? God has shown Himself faithful throughout your life. Is there something in your life that you aren’t willing to trust Him with? I know life is hard. I know you might lack something that’s necessary to feel good about your future. But if you’re trusting God with your eternity, then surely He’s worth trusting for whatever you need today.

Where in your life are you asking, “Can God really…”? It is easy for me to look back at my life and see where God has done miracle after miracle. Yet, it’s sometimes hard for me to believe that God can really do what seems impossible for the future. How would your perspective change today if you really believed that all things were possible for God?

Do you think God is holding out on you? I’ll be the first to admit that waiting on God is a normal experience for all of us. At the same time, I don’t think we should equate waiting on God with the belief that God is holding out on us. God is faithful. God is at work. God still has a purpose for you, even if you’re in a wilderness season now. Romans 8:32 gives me confidence when I begin to feel like God is holding out on me.

Romans 8:32 He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all - how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things?

God is not holding out on you. He can do all things. He has given us what we most need, so let’s not think He’ll hold back in our lives. Will you allow His activity in the past to shape your faith in Him for the future? We’re in this together and I’m excited about what God is going to bring about for all of us.

Much Love,

Pastor Ben
