NaNoWriMo

November is National Novel Writing Month - NaNoWriMo. I wrote the bulk of the first draft of Dying in Dallas during my first NaNoWriMo and also The Blood Will Tell during last year's event.

This year I'm working on the first book in a brand new series. Don't worry, as soon as I finish I will get to work on book three in the Laramie Harper Chronicles. I just wanted to write something completely different.

Happy Friday the 13th
I love that my newsletter is going out on a Friday the 13th. But I'll let you in on a little secret. I planned it that way.

Back when I was deciding on when I would send out a monthly letter I realized if I sent it on the 13th there was a good chance that at least once or twice a year it would go out on a Friday. 

I think I love Friday the 13th because if you are superstitious, believing in bumpies is probably your thing, too. 

I wrote a post on a really dark day in Friday the 13th's history. Spoiler alert - the knight in the picture is a clue.

Weather permitting, every day I try to get in an afternoon walk. With the time change, my evening walk is now at the perfect time for bat watching. 

They are waking up and starting to hunt for their dinner - bugs and the dreaded midge - when I go out.
