Tell us a bit about yourself!
Iām a freelance publicist specializing in media relations, partnerships and talent management. I work with brands and individuals to develop and execute communications strategies to maximize messaging and increase awareness. What I like about it is that there isnāt a typical day. Usually, I work from my apartment, but some days Iām all over the city for meetings or working with partners for a change of scenery. I love routines that get me out the door, so adjusting to working from home was difficult. In an office setting I was moving from my desk to a conference room to a showroom throughout the day. Now I rely on shifting my workspace around or switching which side of the table Iām sitting at. Scheduling time for an hour-long walk everyday has become essential for a refresh when I need a break, too. I honor it rain or shine.
What inspires you to uncover more in your day to day?
No matter how different every workday is, sticking to a routine can get pretty stale. Itās a huge priority of mine to get out and discover something every day, big or small. I walk or Citi bike everywhere and recently Iāve been leaving earlier so I have more time to explore on my way to wherever Iām headed. Iāve found so many coffee shops, restaurants and boutiques this way. Itās especially helpful right now for finding and supporting small businesses.
If you could give one piece of advice to someone, what would it be?
Be selective with who has access to you. It can change your life!
What is one quote you live by?
Everything you speak comes to life.
What is a step in your morning routine that is non negotiable?
Beginning each day with intention. I sit down with my (first) coffee and write down 3 things I want to complete that day. Crossing things off of my to-do list is the best feeling in the world, and setting myself up for success every morning is key to feeling accomplished by bedtime.
Was there a time in your life where you had an āahaā moment?
I havenāt had one specific āahaā moment, but every time Iāve gotten rid of something toxic in my life, i.e. a relationship, job, bad habit, etc., Iāve felt a renewed sense of self. I experience the most clarity after making tough decisions.
What would be the soundtrack of your life?
My Way by Frank Sinatra.
How do you unwind after a busy day?
Itās not easy for me to relax, but I always feel better when I give in to it. What I need to unwind is always changing, but two constants are Tata Harperās resurfacing mask and an array of candles.
