Welcome to the New Moon in Sagittarius!

Hello dear First name / one,

I usually write these days in advance, but I am writing you this at 8pm after having satisfactorily dressed my tree, and sipping a glass of wine. Because I am feeling it— that total slipping of time that has been happening all week, crescendoing today (Sunday) with, How is it getting dark again, it just barely got light!

I spent the day cooking and texting/talking with friends here and abroad, letting my mind wander where it wanted to. But of course I could not forget about the New Moon that peaks tomorrow at 8:16am PST, three hours after the total solar eclipse. It is no coincidence that I am feeling all philosophical and Jupiterian.

We are at the threshold of a major personal and potentially interpersonal initiation with this lunation and solar eclipse. Eclipses can be times of incredible transformation if we harness the energy properly and with direction. If not, it can feel like when you’re trying to impress the lifeguard with your “Venus born of the ocean” strut out of the water, and a wave comes up from behind and yanks your ankles out from beneath you (just me?). Humility never hurt anyone, but it’s not the look we’re going for here. Keep your wits about you and pick up the swelling energy to move you forward.

The lunar eclipse at the end of November brought with it some heavy themes of communication around our emotional needs and our values. I’m hoping you were able to navigate some tough conversations, say what needed to be said and honor your boundaries in these last two weeks, thereby setting the stage for this fresh new moon.

As with all new moons, this is a great time to start a new project, commit to a new routine, or dedicate some time to thinking about and planning what you want in your future. In the sign of Sagittarius, you may be feeling more energized and optimistic, leaning more philosophical and thinking about travel or expansion in other areas of your life. Since we cannot safely travel now, how can you open yourself up to new adventures in your community or through expanding your knowledge?

Just like the planets move into astrological signs, in Human Design terms they move through the 64 gates that relate to the IChing. On Monday, the Sun is moving into Gate 11—the Gate of Ideas, which asks us to open ourselves up to the myriad possibilities available to us. What with the eclipse of the moon across the sun, expect some heightened energy around your thinking. Allow yourself to explore an idea or a possibility(ies) that may have seemed once out of the question. What part of your shadow must you address, what must you release, to begin moving forward with optimism and an openness to the new? What new ideas from the collective are you responding to?

Gate 11 is in the Ajna (processing) center, but it is not a logical gate. It is abstract. These ideas are meant for exploration and sharing. This is the moment to reflect on the last 6 months, and glean experiential wisdom that will spark creative new directions. These are not necessarily ideas to be personally acted upon, but to be shared with the goal of offering the collective new perspectives with which to move forward.

Perhaps you’ve also heard about the Great Conjuction? On December 21—the winter solstice, the shortest day of the year, the day to celebrate the returning of the light—Saturn (our teacher and task master) and Jupiter (our expander and luck-bearer) will move within 1° of one another into Aquarius, the sign of the creative collective. There are so many astrological and astronomical resources out there about this phenomenon, but what I understand it to mean is that we have an opportunity to learn from our past experiences to create the internal perspective shift that will affect how we interface with the external, thereby redirecting the whole collective. Our greatest strength is recognizing that our community, no matter what size, is just a collection of individuals. When we can reckon with the lessons we have been struggling with (… say, for the last 200 years), align ourselves with our deepest truths, and yet remain open and adaptable to new ideas, we can create major societal change.

All year we have been asked to relentlessly revisit our shadow, to pivot, to accept that change is a constant. Without judgement, how have you handled the tide of 2020? What goals would you like to bring into fruition in the next six months? What are the values you want to share with the collective? Or that you want the collective to share with you?

If you are looking to dive deeper, to clear the path ahead…
I invite you to your INITIATION. Last week was the launch of this reimagined offering combining a comprehensive Human Design Reading, embodiment techniques, and transformational coaching. We will excavate your fears and limiting beliefs, and in turn illuminate your innate gifts to initiate you into your authentic life path. Gain a foundational knowledge of self as well as how to integrate it into your physical body and harmonize your life.
Come as you are, I'll meet you there.

On a personal note, I am wrapping up my 33rd year on this planet and perhaps it’s just the timing, but I feel like I’m swimming in a warm spring of reflections. Like, Hello! How am I still a radically changing being? I look back on my younger selves with so much love and compassion for getting me to this point, and I’m more than excited to look forward to possibilities I have not even yet conceived.

I’m grateful for you, for your support of Honored Body and for her growth in her first (real!) year.

Also!!! I'm excited to be teaming up with Heroine Journal for their first Heroine Market this month, and I will be doing an Instagram LIVE with the founders on December 23 at 5pm! There will likely be wine and secrets shared.
