SUNDAY SELF CARE JOURNAL

HELLO WINTER  | VOL.41 | 2020

Dear First name / sweet friend

Happy Winter Solstice tomorrow!

Do you have any solstice traditions that you are looking forward to?

Tomorrow marks the onset of winter and the shortest day in the northern hemisphere.

Some beautiful traditional rituals I've read about include building a yule altar (I'll be doing this!), making an evergreen yule wreath, burn a yule log, gifting nature-based items, meditate in candlelight (I'll be doing this one too!).  Winter Solstice is a fun time to create your own traditions surrounding!

Traditions and rituals are important to us because they contribute to a sense of comfort, belonging, nurturing and marking important occasions.  I personally find it particularly important to lean into traditions during the winter month since I'm not a bit fan of the cold - for me, they give me something to look forward to, celebrate and ease the not-so-fun aspects of the winter months.  Celebrating the onset of winter oddly has me coping with it better!

I look to the Winter Solstice as an important time to reflect on the past year, find some balance and reset for the new year.  It's a time that I dream forward a bit towards the new year and even get thoughtful on my “word” for the new year.

This year I'm excited to be hosting a very special yin yoga class to offer up time to contemplate these things for yourself (one of my last two classes of 2020!).  I hope you'll add my class tomorrow evening to your Winter Solstice ritual this year. Details are below (I'm trying out a new platform for this class - it's an easy sign up for you and class is still pay-what-you-can …but be sure to read below so that it's easy for you to join!)

The onset of winter is coming with many feelings for us collectively this year.  In some ways, with the year that we have had we have been fearing what winter will be like for our society - in other ways, winter and the new year mark a kind of hope.  However you're feeling, I am here to remind you that no matter what lies ahead for winter this year, you always have the ability and power…to come right back to you.

CRYSTAL OF THE WEEK | MOONRISE CRYSTAL BOUTIQUE

TROLLEITE | awakening + manifesting

I wrote an article (linked above) on some of the crystals I suggest for incorporating into your Winter Solstice rituals … well my friends, if there would be ONE that I could pick, it would probably be Trolleite (it's a difficult decision!).

Trolleite is a rare and beautiful stone (I get mine directly from Brazil) that looks like the Caribbean Ocean (I have to be honest that these stones looking like the tropics help me get through the winter weather JUST a little easier).  I LOVE it for Winter Solstice rituals because it is perfect for your intentions of reflection, releasing and dreaming.

I just updated the boutique with the Trolleite that I currently have left in stock.  Let me know if you have questions on these beautiful pieces!

I love to use Trolleite in my intention practices for :

healing
releases fears and pains
mental clarity
rapid growth + healing
working at cellular level to bring up past memories
releasing
meditation + dream work

Trolleite works with ALL chakras.

What comes to mind as you reflect on this year or past few months?

What are you proud of this year?

What inspired you this year?

What practices feel good to reset before the new year? (be sure to schedule these in!)

What are you dreaming about in the new year?  What action steps can you put into place to show up to these dreams?

What words come to mind for 2021 for you and why?

HOLIDAY GIFT GUIDE 2020!

I decided to put a gift guide together for 2020 because I have a handful of brands that I work with personally and professionally on a regular basis, and I truly just love them all.  I've worked to find brands that I believe in entirely - from their ethics to their philosophy to their quality and their purpose. I wouldn't be recommending them if they didn't check all of these boxes.  This list is a reflection of these brands!  Check them out and please don't hesitate to let me know if you have any questions!

I'm so excited to let you know that I recently partnered with Savvi.  Savvi is a life style fitness brand that has spoken to me both in their ethics + philosophy and their incredible line of active wear (literally my favorite!) for quite some time now.  They represent building your life by design.

I made the decision to partner with them as the official line of MoonRise Self Care and am so excited to introduce the line and philosophy of the brand to you!

Please check them out through my site below, feel free to share with a friend who would love them, reach out to me with any questions and reach out to me if you're interested in partnering with a gorgeous brand and philosophy as well!

YIN CLASSES FROM THE COMFINESS OF YOUR SPACE!

There are TWO last yin live stream classes left with me this year, and they are both very special (please see below).  I hope that you'll join in one or both!

I'm going to be taking the end of the year to create more content for the MoonRise YouTube channel, and plan ahead for 2021.

I'm going to be shifting my schedule slightly for 2021 and I would love to hear from you if you have any day or time preferences!

PLEASE reply if you're craving something in particular - I'll be reaching out next week with my schedule updates.

Just so you have a heads up, my focus will definitely be on yin (and yin classes with crystals) - I'm also considering adding some 30 min mat pilates classes, focusing on conditioning specific areas if there is interest.

I will continue to focus on specialty yin classes based on the moon and significant events.

Yin yoga is a gentle form of yoga, appropriate for any level, and the ultimate self care. In yin, we hold poses for longer amounts of time to allow gravity to take over, our parasympathetic nervous system to kick in gear, and calm in our mind and body.  It is TRULY the best hour of self care.

SET UP :
- Set up your area in a quiet and dim space. If you love candles, essential oils, crystals, set them up around you.

For this special event, you might consider setting up a Winter Solstice Altar full of evergreen, yule log, candles and anything else meaningful to you this year.
- A yoga mat is not necessary, but if you have one, unroll it.  You could even get super comfy by placing a bath mat (this is what I use) or blanket on top of your mat!
- Have several yoga props available...blocks and bolsters if you have them, bed pillows, blankets and towels if you don't.

INVESTMENT :
Pay what you can. This is a donation based class, pay what you are able.

My family GREATLY appreciates your donations as this is how I make my living, venmo @ jadoreurlife

Join Jenny in an all levels, pay what you can yin yoga class to create or meditate with your 2021 word.

Have you ever chosen a “word” for your year?  Over the past few years, I began doing this instead of creating resolution. I choose a word that I'm inspired by, and that helps to inspire me for the year and come back to it often.  Sometimes I create a bracelet with my word stamped onto it so that I am reminded of it each time I look at my wrist (a year ago we came together IN PERSON - if you can remember what that feels like - for a beautiful VinYin followed by intention bracelet making), other times it's as simple as a sticky note on my mirror with my word.  I love to come back to my intention throughout the year, it has served me SO well.

Regardless of the HOW - I always think of or honor my word via some sort of thoughtful practice.  And this year, I really want to share it with you.

Please join me for an all levels, pay what you can hour of yin yoga to create of honor your word for 2021.  This hour will be a moving meditation to either ponder or spend time with your word.

If you know what your word is, I suggest bringing your favorite crystal to your mat that symbolizes your word.

DECEMBER SELENITE GIVEAWAY

I believe that kindness matters, in uplifting someone else, in the ripple effect and in paying it forward.  I believe that the world needs more love and kindness and that we have the potential to change someone's day with a small gesture.

When I began the MoonRise crystal boutique, I knew that I wanted to incorporate a #CrystalRippleEffect into it from the start, so I began gifting a FREE crystal with every purchase.  It's become one of the most important parts of the boutique to me.  With each purchase, you'll receive a free crystal - you could keep it for your collection, gift to a friend or share with a stranger.  Set an intention behind it and pass those vibes on!

For the entire month of December, you'll be gifted TWO selenite sticks with any purchase totaling $60+!

One for you and one to gift to a friend or stranger!

Selenite is a must have for ANY collection.  I keep selenite throughout my house with intentions of calming and cleansing.  You'll find it under my bed, next to my bed, near all of my other crystals....literally I think I have a piece in each room of my space!

Nothing special for you to do, a piece will automatically be sent when your purchase totals $60+.
