Hi friends!
Welcome to the first Sunday Spark of the year. Fresh starts are promising and full of possibilities, which happens to be one of my most favorite words lately.
As I announced in my latest podcast episode and on Instagram, I started my digital declutter challenge for January 2021. So far, it still feels like any "No Social Media Weekend" I had. However, I am eagerly anticipating the insights I'll have and accomplishments I'd enjoy crossing off my list during this month of digital silence. I will share more with you in the comings weeks.
I am also still in the process of 2021 Goal Setting. I managed to review and write down the highlights and challenges of each of the past 12 months. This step took time but was not hard as my monthly reviews were helpful. I hope your goal setting is going well too my friend.
Here is your weekly dose of The Sunday Spark ⚡ a newsletter listing 5 inspiring things I thought were worth starting your week with:
- My super screen time manager and digital declutter companion application is appblock for Android. Download now, thank me later. Please let me know if there is something as good for iPhone.
- A brilliant podcast interview is the one Time Ferriss did with the actor Matthew McConaughey who wrote a book recently. He mentions how journaling was so important to him in the interview!
- A gratitude technique I just learned about is "The George Bailey Effect". It shows us how much easier it is to notice our blessings when we imagine their absence.
- A way to reignite your sense of mission at work is The Autobiography Method and here is how to do it: "Imagine you’re writing a professional memoir of this phase of your working life. How would it read? What accomplishments did you reach? Which obstacles did you overcome? What is the emotion you want to create when you look back at the time you spend working? The autobiography method works by writing down your story as if it’s already happened. So instead of saying things like, “I’d like to write that novel,” or, “I wish I could manage more interesting projects,” talk about them in the past tense; “I published my first novel,” or, “I led a major effort at my company and demonstrated that I was capable of much more than my current role.” The point is about creating an emotional resonance with a story that is compelling to you." quoted from Scott H. Young in this course.
- A poem I fell in love with is The Guest house by Rumi.
