Hi First name / friend,
Overstimulated much? I KNOW I AM. So I'll keep this week's jam on the shorter side.
With an increased desire for connection in a social distanced world, but most of it moved to technology & the internet due to the pandemic.. I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed!
Endless amounts of information can be summoned at the drop of a pin on our phones, computers, & gadgets. A sense of 24/7 availability to anyone who has our contact information or IG handle pervades the air too. But I wanted to remind you (& myself), that among other boundaries, our digital boundaries deserve to be honored!
Figuring out and establishing some digital boundaries can help us log on & show up more rested & with more clarity, intention, & energy. You deserve that.
While not being a complete replacement, connecting with plants has helped me soften the unmet need for more human contact as well. Sometimes I bundle up on colder days to sip tea and sit in my garden. It may not be producing much right now, but it's nice to reflect on the seasons past & to come. It's also helpful to remember that “production” has a season, as do rest & stillness.
Infusing restorative, relaxing herbs in large jars, pots, & cups of hot water can be so supportive too.
My favorite tonic, restorative herbs for this are: Lemon Balm, Oatstraw, Holy Basil/ Tulsi, & Ashwaganda. To relax a bit deeper, I may add some Lavender and/ or Chamomile. At this time, the Jam Haw apothecary only carries herbs in tincture form. If you wanted to buy loose herbs for making tea blends, check out this list of herb farms & retailers!
Thank you for tuning in with me this week. I hope you're able to create some space from technology if needed & get a lil closer to some plants!
It's an honor & a pleasure,
