Hi friends,

I’m writing to you this week under gray skies, with a view of snow dusted mountains out my living room window. Winter in the desert is magical AF and I am so grateful for the rain we are receiving after an especially dry summer.

But enough about the weather.

Today, I’d like to share with you more about the roots of my spiritual practice and how they shape my approach to Tarot, client work, and life.

A major entry point into intentional spiritual practice came when I was a young teen and a close family friend gave me their inherited deck, a well-worn edition of Mythic Tarot and The Mythic Tarot Workbook by Juliet Sharman Burke. In this deck the archetypal figures and experiences of the Tarot are depicted with characters and tales from Greek mythology.

This is how I first met Persephone: Goddess of Spring, Queen of the Underworld, daughter of Demeter, and consort of Hades. Oh, the duality. In the Mythic Tarot, she represents the High Priestess, Major Arcana II.

(For my first few years working with her, I mispronounced her name “per-seh-phone” before hearing someone say the more standard “per-SEF-uh-nee.” Idk if there is really a right or wrong but I now use the latter!)

Now, I’m not big into deity worship. I see all deities as facets of nature/existence/the Universe; the same way that I see each Tarot card as a single facet of human existence and the process of soul growth. But I do worship nature/existence/the Universe itself. I also believe that each “individual” part of nature (is there such a thing?) contains all of its facets. I am a part of nature and I, too, contain all of its facets.

Being drawn to this particular goddess was a calling from deep within to witness, to worship, that facet of myself she was created to depict. At first, she was permission to see my shadow, my strangeness, without limiting myself to just those things. I am death and dying and I am creation and fresh blooms.

Later, she became instruction on weathering the wildness of spiralic living. The circumstances of her myth mean that Persephone must travel between worlds with the changing of the seasons. She teaches us how to continuously and actively die and be reborn.

And that is the root of my work. Learning, sharing, and guiding others through the act of dying and being reborn. Contraction and expansion. Walking the spiral path. I firmly believe that the best guide is one who is devoted to the work themselves. This is the work I am devoted to and the root of my business as a Tarot reader and maker. This is Persephonic.

I want my work to be practical and useful, the same way Tarot has been for me as I’ve undergone (and am always moving through) life/death/life cycles. With this in mind, I am announcing a new offering:

These readings will look a little different from my standard one-off reading, which will still be available through my website once I finish up some construction work over there. (You can always email me if you’re interested in a single reading!)

Recurring readings are a conversation between you and I about the current happenings of your life and what you most need guidance on in the moment. We will discuss together how to frame the questions you want to ask the cards and how to interpret and work with the cards that show up for you. We can check in on any number of concerns you might have in our one hour video call.

To sign up for this offering, subscribe to one of the two new tiers on my Patreon page. Hopefully, using Patreon in this way will make it easier should you want to pause your readings or increase their frequency. You can do so by switching your subscriber tier at any time.

This is very new and experimental for me, as well as you, so if you have any questions, comments, or concerns please don’t hesitate to send me an email!

That's all for today friends. Stay grounded and breathe deep đź–¤
