SevenThings

A week's worth of Inspiration, Eating, Listening,

Watching, Reading, Working & Making

hey there, friend!

This week has been ALL about communication. And the fact that I've been stuck in this house with only one other human being for the last 11 months. I mean, he's here ALL THE TIME. Like,  all the time. Every day. All day. Did I mention he's here all the time?

So when he came to me last weekend saying he needed an afternoon by himself, where he could watch what he wanted (stuff I didn't like) on TV, and listen to loud music with headphones if he wanted to, I was like, CAN YOU SEE INTO MY BRAIN? Because YAASSSS.

Which is how we ended up spending all day Sunday…together, but separate. Him in his Lounge, me in the Great Room. Frankly, I didn't realize how much I needed that.  To not worry about anyone else for a few hours, and just do what I felt was right was a revelation. And not like a 45 minute walk, but like a solid 6 hours.

So, be open to the idea that you don't have to spend all the time with someone else, even if you live together.  There are no rules. And remember that they can't read your mind.  Use your words, enjoy your afternoon.  Meet for dinner and tell each other about your day.  Because it was amazing.

Some small moments of joy:

Realizing that feeling wonky and having a weird migraine was because I had inadvertently been making decaf coffee for the last two days and my body was having caffeine withdrawals - not because I had a communicable disease.

Seeing a thing I designed getting installed around the neighborhood

I need this sconce in my life

Long live the cast iron pan and the women who make them

The color of your mask(s) make a difference

Valentines from The MERL

How to figure out what you need from Amazon

Driveway Art with a pressure washer (!!!)

Gauging your emotional state via SYTYCD videos

Here are the other things that got me through this week.

I hope they do the same for you, wherever and however you may be.

Pin of the Week

This week, it's wall to wall bedrooms!  This one started with that plaid swatch from Room and Board, and while it's only available on a dining (or desk!) chair, it kicked off this entire Feminine Modern Rustic Bedroom.  I layered patterns with the closet wallpaper, and used Semi-Handmade fronts on storage with a great horn pull from CB2.  The bedroom is grounded by this awesome warm patterned carpet, which is set off by a great metal McGee and Co bed and Arhaus desk. Warm metal and black accents with natural textures pull it all together. I'm ready to move in.
