2.22.21

Comedian George Carlin coined the term “vuja de” to mean the opposite of the French idiom “déjà vu," which literally means "already seen." While both speak to an inexplicable feeling of familiarity, ‘deja vu’ is a sense of experiencing something that has happened before in the same way, and ‘vuja de' is a sense that you're experiencing something in an entirely new, fresh way.

Like nothing ever seen before, yet familiar? Nostalgic, yet new? Spaces that ooze character while maintaining a refined, designer edge? I am here for it. My maximalist self is digging the retro-modernist design aesthetic that's making forgotten home trends suddenly cool again, reviving old styles and pulling inspiration from decades past to give unique character to today's homes.

This week's roundup includes some of my favorite ‘new again’ trends and the trendsetters that are totally owning the looks. Enjoy, happy Monday, and if you haven't already: head to our ‘Baker Bathroom’ story highlight on Instagram to check out the 2-day makeover of the bathroom at my Home and Studio!

Cheers,

Lauren

…P.S. one year from today the date will be 2.22.22, and that's pretty cool…

THE 2021 ROUNDUP

Top Comeback Design Trends

While we're keeping our fingers crossed that some interior fads from years past stay in our rearview, there are a few groovy styles making their way back into vogue that we're thrilled to see.
