 It's hard to believe 1 year ago, we were approaching the halfway mark of our shop doors being closed for nearly 3 months during lockdown. This realization makes us all the more grateful to be creating store displays that inspire & incorporate design concepts we want to share about (& that you can actually come in and see). Sometimes there is a method to our madness, so enjoy some tips on mixing a few of our favorite design styles! 

When mixing styles, one way to start is by picking one piece to center around. In our shop's front display, it's clearly the antique display case we thrifted + restored in a modern industrial flair. Another great example is our Argentinian coffee tables that are industrial as they come with a rectangle metal frame + mosaic wood top. Using one centerpiece will ground the whole vignette.

Industrial style alone can often be too dark + cold, whereas the Romantic style too light in color palette + ornate. Combining the two makes a striking result. The cool tones of the Tadelakt Moroccan Vases and structure of the Brass Candle Holders (industrial) are beautifully contrasted by the soft colors + textures of the dried flowers (romantic).

Our shop display brings balance by embracing minimalism. Try to balance highly textural pieces (i.e. palm fiber baskets) with items that do not take up contextual space (i.e. glassware). Balance strong geometric patterns (i.e. thrifted wine/towel rack) with soft + natural pieces (i.e. Moroccan towels). The minimalist approach brings attention to the details & has a calming effect.
