Welcome to the New Moon in Pisces!

Hello dear First name / one,

We are in the thick of it, in the depths of it. In many parts of the Northern Hemisphere it is still cold, but the days are growing longer. The sun is up earlier every day, reaching deeper into the ground and thawing the places left frozen. Crystals become liquid and soil becomes mud. It is rich, fertile with possibilities. There’s a dampness in the air, lingering on our shoulders. It would be so easy to just stay wrapped up inside for a bit longer, but even our bodies know this is a season of awakening. The fats that have kept us warm begin to melt and our blood becomes thicker with it. We produce mucus to clear out our sinuses and cavities, and our lymphatic system works on overtime to flush any toxins that have become stagnant.

The wateryness of Pisces season and March in particular psychologically relates to a period of sadness and lamentation. We are invited to process grief and release deeply rooted feelings. Allow it to soak you through, and then wash away. Even the most stoic of us has the potential for a delicate sensitivity. During this time, it will be exceptionally important to notice your body and the signals it is relaying to you. Instead of rationalizing or reasoning away emotions, sit with the feelings of the body. When your chest feels tight, focus on nothing else except breathing to expand the diaphragm. When your head feels heavy, rest it and imagine a door to open and let out all of the negative thoughts.

The sign of Pisces relates to the Pineal and Pituitary glands, the third eye, and the feet and toes. The Pituitary and Pineal are tiny glands that live centrally in the brain, behind the eyes. The Pituitary secretes hormones that regulate the thyroid, adrenal glands, and reproductive organs, while the mysterious Pineal is thought to regulate sexual maturation and our circadian rhythms. Much like the enigmatic sign of Pisces, these glands function as overseers of multiple, seemingly unrelated processes. Proving that there is an interconnectedness pulsing behind all existence.

Forgive my whimsy, but perhaps on this moon that all makes some sense. A new moon is the beginning of a new cycle and this one in the watery, dreamy sign of Pisces begins with a favorable aspect to loving Venus and spiritually-minded Neptune. More often than not our spiritual expansion comes through a surrender and acceptance, through stepping into love. It is a loving practice for oneself to grieve and release old hurts, old feelings. In doing so we activate our imagination and create the space for new possibilities. Just as sometimes when we explore in our imagination, we find places that need tenderness and care to heal. Be mindful to not let yourself get carried away with the romanticism of the energies this weekend, but do let down your guard with yourself.

The sun (and moon) will move in Gate 36 tomorrow and the sun will stay there until the 17th. As individuals we may experience a desire for emotional exploration and experiences that will contribute to our personal growth and expansion. With this in mind, trusting our strategy and authority before entering into new experiences will be key to doing so harmoniously. You can learn more about embodying your strategy and authority here.

FOR THE BODY

Sharp bitters such as raw radishes, pickled garlic or celery, and artichoke hearts can aid in the metabolism of fats in the blood. Dark, bitter greens will not only support and cleanse the liver, but increase prana to counteract the heaviness of the season.

â—¦
Spices such as coriander and cumin will help you to clear excess fluids.

â—¦

Give yourself a pedicure with a little extra attention paid to the toes. In TCM, the Pineal and Pituitary glands are located on the center of the big toe pad, give it a squeeze for 4-6 seconds and release to stimulate the flow of chi.

These next few weeks are setting us up for the astrological new year that begins with the sun moving into the sign of Aries on the 21st, during a first quarter phase of the moon. Grieve, cry, lament, wail, let go, purge, tend to all of it now so that you can begin to turn the soil and prepare the container for new life. If you need a hand, I’m always here.

To ring in Aries season, I have been working on something truly special with some amazing women. And I'm thrilled to share it with my Moonsletter subscribers before the official launch:
