Celebrate Pi Day by making your own classic pie!

Tomorrow is Pi Day (3.14), and to celebrate, I've put together an easy recipe you can make!

There's a great story about this pie, the “Oh” Pie-  the high school I went to used to serve this up occasionally for desserts, and they were famous for it!  They called it an “Oh" Pie, but we used to call it something else (you can use your imagination), and it was such a delicacy we used to snag entire pies from the dining hall to save for later!

This simple pie is a favorite of mine, and comes together easily without any baking or crust prep.  This is NOT a high-brow pie, but is a super fun classic and great to make with kids- everyone will love it and

it'll make you go “OH”!

Westtown School Oh Pie

You'll need:

One pre-made graham cracker crust pie

Package of cook and serve chocolate pudding mix

1 cup sweetened condensed milk

1 cup whole milk

1 cup heavy whipping cream

1 Tablespoon brown sugar

1 teaspoon table salt

Dark chocolate bar

Utensils:

Mixer or whisk

Fine cheese grater

Process:

-Mix together the pudding mix, condensed milk, and whole milk and bring to a boil on the stove, whisking constantly.

-Turn off the stove and let thicken while stirring- it's okay if a few lumps form.

-Once thickened, fill crust with chocolate pudding and place in the refrigerator to cool

-While pie is cooling, make your whipped cream by whisking or beating together whipping cream, brown sugar, and table salt until soft peaks form in cream.

-Gently spoon whipped cream on top of cooled pie

-Grate dark chocolate on top to preference

Keep in refrigerator until ready to serve

Not able to make something yourself?

We will also have pies available for order this week!

Current Flavors

Golden Ginger Pie - This refreshing pie takes flavors of fresh ginger, turmeric and lemon to create a rich, but refreshing custard.  It's like nothing you've ever had!

Chocolate Chess Pie - This classic style dark chocolate pie is a mix between a brownie and a pie, and topped with a sprinkle of powdered sugar.

Southern Pecan Pie with Bourbon - The kick of bourbon is a great twist on a family recipe and is based off Grandma Caroline's recipe from Tennessee.

Diner Cherry Pie -  This is my homemade take on a classic!  Using sweetened canned cherries and a homemade all butter crust, this pie is a big improvement on a nostalgic classic!
