March Newsletter

I hope you had an incredible Women's History Month! I hope you took the time to celebrate all the amazing women in history, in your life, and in your community. May we continue to celebrate and uplift women near and far!!

This newsletter includes some great fashion, food, and fitness hacks, April's monthly challenge, and some ways to connect and support the community!

Everyone is a Hacker

Hacking has a bad reputation because often times we think of hackers in the context of bad actors on the internet but that is not the only application of the term. Truly everyone is a hacker just in different ways: when you use a rubber band to put up your hair because you ran out of hair ties, when you stack up some boxes to hold up your TV because you don't have a TV stand, or when you use extension cords to tie equipment together because you don't have any rope. Those are all hacks. Most of the new things you use that make your life easier are hacks to the traditional or typical way in which that thing used to be done. A microwave is a hack for a stove.

Below are some of my favorite hacks. Try them out! Also, create, post, and tag @five_fifths and use the hashtag below in some of your own life hacks!

We are all hackers.

FASHION HACK

Did you know?

You can wrap the waist of your pants around your neck to estimate if they will fit. Try it out! Wrap the pants around you neck like a cape and see if it connects in front. If yes you should be good. If not maybe go the size up.

*if you have booty and hips like my mama this does not account for that

FOOD HACK

Did you know?

You can put a piece of bread in the same container with your cookies to help them stay moist and soft. The moisture from the bread is absorbed by the cookies to help them stay fresh and tasty for longer amount of time! Then you can use the dry bread for french toast!!

FITNESS HACK

Did you know?

You can put old textbooks or any sort of heavy books in a drawstring bag to use as weights. Body weight workouts are great but sometimes you need a little extra pounds. This is a great substitute for kettlebells especially for heavy squats and lower body work in general.

April Monthly Challenge!

April is Autism awareness month. Personally I have many family members and friends that fall on the spectrum so this month has a special place in my heart. This month I challenge you to listen, to research and learn, and to connect with this community.

Listen.

“We have two ears and one mouth so that we can listen twice as much as we speak.”

Learn.

“Being ignorant is not so much a shame, as being unwilling to learn.”

Connect.

“Connection is the energy that is created between people when they feel seen, heard, and valued”

I hope you learned a few new things and as always your feedback is welcome and appreciated!! Stay healthy! Stay safe! Be blessed and be a blessing!

Thank you for joining me on this journey. If you enjoyed what you read, don't keep it to yourself! Share it with your friends and family, and tag @mahkaylamckenzie and @five_fifths_ on instagram!!
