Tips to Protect Your Plants:

• Obviously if you can bring them in, do so.

• Mulch beds to add a layer of insulation.

• Water the soil thoroughly before frost. Water holds heat better than dry soil, protecting roots & warming air near the soil.

• Cover outdoor plants with a Harvest Guard Frost Cloth.

• Walls of Water are great for insulating garden plants such as tomatoes, peppers, & many more. How do they work? The sun heats the “water walls” which keeps the plant, soil, & roots from freezing. Basically like a mini greenhouse.

• For planters, we love the plant dolly’s for easy mobility to protect from all types of weather.

Tips for the Week

We have a high chance of moisture in the forecast. Now is the perfect opportunity to over-seed cool season grasses before the rain arrives.

+

If you do not have a sprinkler system (or even if you do), now would be a great time to apply pre-emergents, fertilizers, Activate, etc to help get it watered in.

+

If you have shrubs, perennials, or trees that have dead spots on them, it is a good idea to trim them back and fertilize to help promote new, healthy growth.

Giveaway Item of the Week

Bromeliad

Scientific research shows that Bromeliads can improve indoor air quality after business hours. While most common indoor plants purify the air during the day, bromeliads release oxygen and remove air pollutants during the night.

Winner of the Giveaway will receive their choice in color of a Bromeliad plant.

Plant of the Week

Red hot poker

This sun loving, perennial plant has a very unique bloom that makes it really stand out in any flower bed. It stays on the shorter side, only growing a little over a foot tall, which makes it perfect for adding to the border of your area. Red Hot Poker thrives in dry conditions, is deer tolerant, attracts hummingbirds, & blooms summer through fall! It is overall the perfect plant for our area. We have 4 varieties in stock that we grew right here on location.
