This Earth Week, we've been highlighting sustainability here at the Auraria campus in the past, present and future. Today's Earth Week focus is on the future: how can Auraria take bold action on climate change by reducing the greenhouse gas emissions we are responsible for as a campus?

We need your help to answer this question! Please visit our Climate Action Forum before it closes on April 30th to provide your feedback and to make your voice heard. All Auraria participants are entered to win a $50 gift card.

Do you think it's important for our Auraria campus administrators to take action on climate change? Make sure they know by having a presence in the forum (instructions below). As of today, we've only seen 25 participants and we'd like to get to 100 to make sure the message is clear!

May 5th, 3 PM on Zoom
(Register here)

The event features displaced Aurarians and community activists telling their stories followed by a discussion with community members, student leaders, and Auraria faculty and staff on how to use the campus’s history to plan for the future. The University of Colorado Denver, Metropolitan State University, the Community College of Denver, and AHEC will be putting on this event in celebration of Cinco de Mayo. The planners hope the panel will bring to life the complex histories of the campus while also seeking solutions to political tensions that remain between campus institutions and displaced Aurarians. The panel and discussions increase awareness about how institutionalized discrimination created the conditions to build Auraria Campus and the legacies of those decisions. While participants may be concerned about contemporary issues of gentrification and displacement, the event highlights how these issues are not new, but rather ongoing social processes in Denver.
