Its becoming clear that I need to create a newsletter. I'll share new work, artwork archives and when my work will be exhibited or published. Artists are my best inspiration, but I also want to reach out to people who love painting.
I made it my goal this year to paint larger. In January I created an oil on canvas 4' x 4' which recently sold. I gained enormous insight into painting larger with this painting and another oil on canvas, 4' x 6'. Please see both below. Painting among other things is a conversation about drawing, drawing with brushes and what lies underneath the forms on canvas. An abstract form takes shape and then gets dismissed, moves around the canvas and re-emerges as another flexible form.
One can trace the genealogy of a painting, post pictures of its progress like photo album of ancestors. Once in a while, the process photos surprise me and I think that moment in the history of the painting stands on its own. Why didn't I see it then?
