EBRPSS families and staff, 

As we close out the busy month of April and approach the finish line for the 2020-2021 school year, I am deeply grateful for all your continued contributions to ensure a strong finish to the year. 

Over the past month, I’ve had the opportunity to hear from and learn from many of you through town hall meetings, advisory councils and your individual messages. I am pleased that we were able to work together to finalize a school calendar. Additionally, we were able to secure a $1,300 bonus for all of our hardworking employees who devoted themselves to our students throughout the pandemic to guarantee our children received high-quality instruction, meals, and the additional vital resources our schools and employees provide to the community. 

I look forward to the opportunities that lay ahead as we continue our journey toward return and recovery in the 2021 - 2022 school year. As I’ve shared with many of you over the last few weeks, we have been given a wonderful opportunity to support our children in ways we never have before. We will be able to focus on supporting our students through a whole-district approach to social-emotional learning; increased focus and support on improving literacy and math mastery; and will provide additional instructional time, professional development and resources in the upcoming school year.

Soon our team will be sharing details for community input and feedback in our strategic planning process. Please be on the lookout for a survey next week and additional information about how you can get involved.

I am energized by the great enthusiasm for high-quality education in Baton Rouge. By capitalizing on these shared passions and listening to community input, we will ensure a Smart Start for all our students.
