Now that we know what essential oils are, it’s important to know how to use them! There are 3 ways to use your oils:
1. AROMATIC USE
This is the easiest way to experience your oils! You can experience so many benefits simply by smelling them. Calm or uplift emotions, boost energy, manage seasonal threats, cleanse the air, promote sleep, just to name a few!
Here are few ways I use my oils aromatically:
-Diffuse Lavender in the evening to support sleep
-Place a drop of Easy Air in the palms + inhale to encourage restful breathing
-Wear Whisper as a natural “pure-fume” to support the body + limit use of synthetic fragrance
2. TOPICAL USE
This is when we apply the oils to our skin to target specific areas, or support the body/mind as a whole. Because doTERRA oils are so pure + potent I always recommend diluting before application. This will help to increase effectiveness, decrease skin sensitivity, and prolong the life of your oils. Topical use of your oils can relieve muscle tension, manage mood, soothe skin irritations, boost immunity, and so much more!
Here are a few examples of how of use my oils topically:
-Massage Balance into the body to ground the emotions
-Apply Peppermint to the temples + shoulders to soothe tension
-Add a drop of Frankincense to my moisturizer to brighten the skin
3. INTERNAL USE
Don’t be afraid to ingest your oils! As long as you’re using a pure essential oil, this is an incredible way to support many different systems of the body in a natural way. Taking oils internally is helpful for cleansing the body, managing pain, easing digestive discomfort, supporting the immune system, and more!
Make sure the essential oil is safe for internal use first, and then try one of these methods:
-Add a drop of citrus to a glass of water to cleanse the body
-Create a natural antihistamine by combining Lemon, Lavender + Peppermint in a veggie capsule
-Place a drop of Frankincense under the tongue to support cellular health
