Congratulations to our Speech and Debate Team! They competed in the district tournament, which is the final competition before Nationals. It is the most important competition for our league and the National Speech and Debate Tournament is the largest academic competition in the country. The following students placed at the top of their events and earned bids to Nationals! This is a MAJOR accomplishment and we are so happy for them! Thank you, Mr. Monsey, for being an incredible coach!

Congratulations to Afsaneh Hormuzdi, on her successful audition for All-State. Afsaneh went on to participate in a virtual choir with the top choral students who received the highest All-State assessment scores from all over the state of Nevada. They worked with Giselle Wyers, the Donald E. Petersen Endowed Professor of Choral Music at the University of Washington. The workshop ended with a virtual performance given by the All-State choir.
“I have been in choir since sophomore year and it has been a really great experience for me. I have enjoyed getting to perform and sing with my friends. This year I even got the opportunity to sing in the All-State choir. The practice was done virtually and we each recorded our parts individually. I learned so much about singing techniques and performing, and I am super grateful that I got to participate this year. Choir has taught me so much about music and singing and I will never forget all the great memories.”
Edit from the 2020-2021 first semester Student Spotlight:
