Each week I’ll be sending you a creative prompt in this email. You can follow along and share your work using the hashtag #CreateWithCatCoq on Instagram! I'll be highlighting select participants’ work on my IG Stories throughout the week, so be sure to tag me @catcoq for the chance to be featured!

I’m a big believer in community over competition. As artists, it’s so important for us to support each other on our journeys. One of my favorite things to do with my friends is to meet up each week and paint together. Think of #CreateWithCatCoq as a weekly virtual art meetup! We’ll learn together, create together, share ideas, and support each other along the way.

One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned as I’ve built my creative business is that the best way to reach your goals is by taking consistent action. Whether your goal is to start a creative business, to improve your skills, or just to have fun being creative, taking consistent action is going to take you there.

No matter what your goals are, this weekly creativity challenge will help you stretch your creative muscles and grow as an artist.

So without further ado, here is this week’s edition of Create with CatCoq!

Learning to design seamless patterns is a great skill to have - especially if you’re interested in selling your art online. Print on demand sites like Spoonflower, Redbubble, and Society6 all have products that work super well with seamless patterns.

Don’t know how to make a seamless pattern? No problem! I just published a blog post tutorial that walks you through exactly how to do it.

Seamless patterns can seem daunting at first, but the process is pretty simple once you get the hang of it. You also don’t need any fancy illustrations to get started. Here is an example of a simple pattern I created just using a single illustration that I drew with a Sharpie.

If you want the full walkthrough of how to create a seamless pattern you can check out my Skillshare class, Modern Patterns: from Sketch to Screen. You can watch the class for free when you sign up for a free trial with Skillshare here.

The final step is to share your seamless pattern using the hashtag #CreateWithCatCoq. I’ll be sharing select participants’ work throughout the week, so don’t forget to tag me @catcoq!

This community is full of incredible artists, and I am so excited to see what you create!

xo, Cat
