I'm thrilled to announce that my newest Skillshare class, Draw Your Dream Home in Procreate, has been selected as a Staff Pick!

In honor of the occasion, I wanted to take a moment to highlight some of the fabulous dream home illustrations my students have been sharing in the Student Projects Gallery.

I am so inspired by the talent, enthusiasm, and care that my students put into their projects. Not to mention the courage it takes to post your artwork publicly – some of you for the first time! So I just wanted to take a minute to say thank you for being so wonderful. My students are the reason I get so much fulfillment out of being a teacher.

If you want to level up your Procreate Skills, I’d love for you to join me in the Draw Your Dream Home in Procreate class. You can watch the class for free when you sign up for a free trial with Skillshare!

Now it’s time for my new favorite part of the week - the #CreateWithCatCoq weekly creative prompt! I was absolutely blown away by the incredible seamless patterns that you all shared last week. The amount of talent and creativity in this community is so inspiring! I hope you’ll join me again this week for this Procreate-inspired artist challenge! 👇

Create a Textured Illustration in Procreate

All of the featured student projects used some kind of texture in their dream home illustrations, and this week's challenge is inspired by them! This week's #CreateWithCatCoq artist challenge is to create a textured illustration in Procreate.

Adding texture to your Procreate illustrations is a simple way to make your illustrations look more dynamic and professional. I absolutely love the look of it. It’s a great way to make your illustrations pop!

If you’re still learning the ropes of Procreate and aren’t sure how to add texture to your illustrations, I have a tutorial for you! Check out this blog post where I share two of my favorite ways to add texture to illustrations in Procreate.

Don’t have Procreate? No problem! You can still join in the #CreateWithCatCoq challenge and create a textured illustration using whatever medium you prefer!

To participate in the challenge, share your textured illustrations on Instagram using the hashtag #CreateWithCatCoq. I’ll feature select participants’ work each week, so don’t forget to tag me @catcoq for the chance to be featured!

I can’t wait to see what you all create this week!

xo, Cat
